Yeah but there's another angle nobody's mentioned — peukert effect and temperature compensation. If your SmartShunt's peukert exponent isn't dialled in for your specific cells, the SOC reading...
@MountainHermit £400 all in sounds decent but I'd double-check that includes the DNO notification side of things — some sparks quote low then add bits on.
Running off mains is fine if your usage...
@WhatsAFuse65 makes a fair point but I'd add — it's not just the bank capacity, it's your BMS continuous discharge rating.
Worth checking your dynamic current limiter setting in VE.Configure — if it's off or set too aggressive, the Quattro can pull more than the EU22i can actually deliver cleanly under sudden load...
@MarineFrank done this a few times for the van. Hit rate is pretty poor honestly — maybe 1 in 3 worth bothering with.
Big thing I'd add: bring a load tester, not just a voltmeter.
@Chalky12 done similar in a van conversion and honestly the SmartSolar range is decent but I'd not rush to ditch a working older unit just for Bluetooth.
Blimey, thread of half-finished posts 😄
@RelayDream one thing worth checking — make sure the IP65 is set to the correct LiFePO4 profile.
Been down this rabbit hole with a similar setup a while back so might be able to help, though not with that exact Must battery.
From what I recall, the Growatt SPF LVM-ES series is a bit fussy...
Both posts being cut off is doing my head in tbh — can't tell if this is a config issue or something weirder.
@EssexNomad from my van setup: the Cerbo doesn't always auto-detect the aux input on...
Had the exact same headache with mine last summer. Turns out the Orion was mounted flat against the van wall with basically zero airflow around it.
Had this exact issue last summer on a long run down the M6. Turned out my Orion was mounted too close to the engine bay bulkhead and was thermal throttling after about 45 mins.
@AlanWard worth double-checking Victron's own docs rather than just taking forum word for it — but yeah, everything I've seen confirms the RS series assumes negative ground throughout.
@RetiredPlumber nails it on cable rating — though I'd push back slightly on people treating that as the only consideration.
On my van build I've got a Victron Multiplus and the manufacturer...
@TID_Electric had this exact issue on my van build. Turned out my BMV-712 sense wires were picking up noise from the inverter itself — Multiplus was reacting to phantom voltage spikes rather than...
@Nessa73 had similar grief with my Cerbo on a 24v build. Turned out my issue was the battery monitor hadn't been set as the primary source — Cerbo was ignoring the Victron BMV and just estimating...
