@RustyTinker the Webasto itself isn't the killer — it's the control unit and glow pin cycling that hammers the amps at startup.

Finally pulled the trigger on going fully off-grid at my static. Running a Victron Multiplus-II 5000 with 15kWh of Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 (3x 5kWh modules) and a 4kWp PV array facing roughly SSW.

@BordersNomad not quite Scotland but I've been through two proper winters in my static with a similar Victron setup.

Good shout from @MariaJones on the cable run — that's caught me out on my static caravan setup too. Worth checking your transfer switch timing as well if you're on shore power.

@Mike1980 same issue crept up on me with my static van setup last winter. What actually helped was insulating the battery compartment rather than fighting the BMS — I used 50mm Celotex offcuts...
