Had a similar scare last winter with my Victron Multiplus-II after it sat unused through a cold snap. Went to fire it up and got nothing but a blinking fault light.
@Cerbo_Master had exactly this on my setup. Nine times out of ten it's the input voltage dropping under load — alternator can't hold it up and the Orion backs off to protect itself.
Worth checking...
@OddJobBob trust the BMV-712, full stop. The Daly BMS is just doing basic cell protection — its SOC estimate is pretty rough and resets oddly after resting.
@WayneTaylor that's exactly how I looked at it — free inverter/charger, can't argue with that logic 😄
Been running a Smart-UPS 2200 here for about 18 months alongside my Victron setup.

Worth factoring in panel angle if you haven't already. Fixed flat mounts that work great in summer are leaving loads on the table come November — sun's barely...
@RustyNomad narrowboats are a solid use case — decent wifi on marinas means VRM actually stays connected more than you'd think.
My setup's a mix of Victron and non-Victron gear.
@Gazza25 yeah seconded on that — been running voltage-based charging with a Victron SmartSolar on generic LiFePO4 cells for a couple of years now, zero drama.
