Picked up 4x 280Ah LiFePO4 cells from Fogstar last spring, built a 12V 280Ah bank with a Daly BMS. Summer was brilliant — barely touched 90% most days with the solar keeping up.
Come November...
@DaveMoore70 kettle's almost certainly your culprit mate. Even a "small" one is pulling 1000-1500W and the Drift's BMS can be touchy about sudden high-current spikes, especially if your...
Had this exact issue with my setup last summer. The thing people miss is usable capacity — your Fogstar Drift is great but you're realistically working with maybe 80Ah before the BMS gets twitchy,...
What @T5Build said about sensor placement is key — mine was tucked against the BMS board itself rather than actually touching a cell, so it was reading ambient not cell temp.
Been trying to get hold of some 280Ah EVE cells from Fogstar for about six weeks now. Every time they come back in stock they're gone within a day or two.
Been running 48V for three years now and it's genuinely the goldilocks zone. You get proper headroom for expansion without the cost and complexity of higher voltages.
