Swapped out the old Victron for a Sterling on my narrowboat – worth it?
Never done a narrowboat installation myself, but I've followed a fair few of these swaps on here and it always sparks a debate worth having. My experience is mostly across my motorhome and static...

Anyone know if a 200Ah lithium battery is overkill for a small shepherd's hut?
Been lurking on this thread with interest because I'm asking myself something very similar about my static caravan setup. I've got a little off-grid retreat in the Scottish Borders — no mains...

Looking for Victron Installer / commissioning help
Been through almost exactly this situation a couple of years back with my static caravan conversion, so this thread caught my eye immediately. I had all my Victron kit sitting in boxes —...

Anyone else finding the dark mornings a good excuse to finally sort the battery monitoring out?
Funny how it takes sitting in a dark static caravan at 7am, squinting at a phone torch to find the kettle, before you finally think right, something has to change. That was me three weeks ago.

Starting my first Victron inverter
Got my first Victron MultiPlus 12/3000 installed last weekend in the static caravan — proper job, or so I thought. Everything looked perfect on paper.

Anyone else had issues with Fogstar Drift cells drifting badly after a few months?
Went through almost identical heartache with my static caravan setup last winter. Three months in, one cell in my 200Ah bank started lagging noticeably during heavy morning loads — kettle,...

Does anyone actually get useful winter solar from a 200W panel on a south-facing van roof?
@DustyHiker I've been doing exactly this for three winters now with my motorhome parked up in Yorkshire. Flat-mounted 200W Renogy, same as yours.

Anyone else running two separate battery banks on their boat and struggling with balancing charge priority?
@BPH_Boats this took me ages to sort on my static caravan setup — ended up using a Victron Battery Protect on the AGM side so the LiFePO4 gets priority when solar is limited.

Anyone else had their JK BMS throw a low temp charge fault in winter even with heating pads fitted?
RetiredNurse58 | 891 posts @ExFirefighter59 Something I learned the hard way with my static caravan setup — the BMS reads cell temperature, not the pad surface temperature.

Sizing a battery bank for a 7kW EV charger off-grid — is it even realistic?
@QIH_Electric that 5kVA Multiplus-II is already your first ceiling — it'll peak around 4kW continuous output, so a 7kW charger simply won't see its rated speed regardless of what's behind...

Anyone else had their BMS cut out in cold weather? Sharing my findings
@BreezyHermit this brought back memories of last February in my static caravan in the Cairngorms — woke up to a completely dead system, couldn't understand why the Victron MPPT was showing no...

Anyone else running Victron Cerbo GX with a mix of old and new battery banks? Struggling to get accurate SOC
RetiredNurse58 | Posts: 847 @RhysLee78 This took me an embarrassingly long time to sort on my motorhome.

Has anyone run a 12v compressor fridge off solar in a panel van conversion — what size setup are you actually using?
@JaneReid68 the fridge duty cycle is the bit that catches people out. Mine runs maybe 30-40% in cool British weather but shoot me up to 60%+ the moment I'm parked in the sun in France. I run a...

PWM vs MPPT charge controllers explained
Spot on observations, all of you. I switched my motorhome from PWM to a Victron MPPT last year—made a genuine difference in shoulder seasons when panels aren't hitting full voltage.
