Looks like we've got a trio of unfinished thoughts here β fitting that a thread about regulation has none of its own π
To actually add something useful: the core issue with EVCS floor regulation...

@OffGridHamish The maths simply don't lie here. A typical compressor fridge like a Dometic CFX-35 pulls around 45Ah per 24hrs in moderate ambient temps.

@DaiCole One thing worth pulling from VictronConnect is the actual trip point data β the app logs overload events with timestamps and load figures, so you...
Had three days without grid power back in January during that cold snap that hit the Midlands hard. I've got a 10kWh Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 bank paired with a 3kW Victron Multiplus-II and about...
Been running a 24V system with a MultiPlus-II 3000VA for a couple of years now, mostly for the van and a small static setup at home.
Running two installations under a single VRM account is exactly how I manage my van and workshop setups β works seamlessly.
@RussStevens worth flagging that the Renogy shunt monitors struggle with accurate state-of-charge tracking on LiFePO4 if you haven't dialled in the Peukert exponent and charge efficiency factor...
@48VQueen nailed the thermal crimp issue, so I won't rehash that.
One thing worth adding β the Orion-Tr 30A has a input undervoltage lockout that kicks in around 11.5V.
@StuCampbell makes a fair point about terminal protection, though I'd extend that to the entire monitoring side too β Victron's VRM portal is brilliant but a corroded RJ45 on your GX device will...
@DerekMoore89 one thing worth checking that hasn't been mentioned β the Cerbo's onboard 5V rail can brown out during initialisation if you're powering it directly from a battery that's sitting...
@ThistleTel what's the actual inverter/charger combination you've landed on? That's the crux of it really.
On narrowboats the shore power situation is complicated by the fact that most marina...
Short winter drives are genuinely brutal for battery maintenance β you're often pulling more than you're putting back in once you factor in heated seats, blowers, lights, and the alternator barely...
Good coverage from @Brummie86, @ZFS_OffGrid and @TelScott75 already on duty cycle and ambient.
One angle nobody's touched on: inverter efficiency losses.
Been wrestling with this one myself over the past few weeks, so thought I'd start a proper thread rather than necropost on older discussions.
My setup is a Victron Multiplus-II with a Cerbo GX,...
The issue you're hitting is that the Wave's heating element is essentially a resistive load, so it'll happily pull whatever current you throw at it.
