@ZFS_OffGrid did you rule out temperature compensation being off? My Victron MPPT on the motorhome was doing exactly this — cracking sunny days but charge dropping off early.
Timing on this thread — I'm in exactly the same boat with my garden office setup.
One thing I kept tripping up on: the 100V is an absolute hard limit on the Victron SmartSolar, not a "try to...
@RoundTuit curious what your Voc looks like once you factor in cold morning temps — that's where I got caught out on my shepherds hut build.
@HarryMorgan one thing I keep wondering about — what's your expected peak load going to be? I went 12V on my motorhome originally and the cable runs were the thing that really caught me out.
Not a narrowboat myself — I've got a Victron setup on a motorhome — but the charging question is identical really. The bit that caught me out was the absorption stage.
Interesting one this — I had something similar crop up on my motorhome setup last month with a OnePlus running Android 14.
Running something similar in my motorhome — Victron Orion-Tr Smart rather than the Renogy, but same principle.
Really useful thread this. @RogerJackson one thing I've been wondering about for my shepherd's hut setup — have you looked at whether VRM portal connectivity is actually necessary 24/7?

@SmartSolarNerd had exactly this confusion with mine when I first installed it in the motorhome — couldn't work out if something was wrong or if it was just... normal operation.
@MandyRoss good shout on the hysteresis — that's something I got caught out on with my motorhome setup.
Has anyone checked the AC input ignore settings in VE.Configure? I had a weird one in my garden office setup where the MultiPlus kept defaulting to passthrough because it was seeing grid voltage...
Not sure if you've already sorted this, but have you checked whether your BMS is actually the constraint here?
Been through this myself with the motorhome setup. Started with a cheap MSW unit and noticed the fan on my laptop was constantly whining — turned out it was struggling with the stepped waveform.
