Really useful thread this. @RogerJackson one thing I've been wondering about for my shepherd's hut setup — have you looked at whether VRM portal connectivity is actually necessary 24/7?
@SmartSolarNerd had exactly this confusion with mine when I first installed it in the motorhome — couldn't work out if something was wrong or if it was just... normal operation.
Has anyone checked the AC input ignore settings in VE.Configure? I had a weird one in my garden office setup where the MultiPlus kept defaulting to passthrough because it was seeing grid voltage...
Been through this myself with the motorhome setup. Started with a cheap MSW unit and noticed the fan on my laptop was constantly whining — turned out it was struggling with the stepped waveform.
