Worth adding — the temperature derating can catch you off guard on cold mornings too. Voc climbs as panels cool down overnight, so double-check your string calc doesn't push you over the MultiRS...
@BorderOffGrid worth checking your charge current threshold setting in VEConfigure — it's the % of bulk current at which it decides absorption is "done" and drops to float.
@ExPostie had exactly this with my cabin setup a couple of winters back. Ended up wrapping the battery box in 50mm PIR board and chucking a small 12v heating mat (thermostatically controlled)...
@LDVCamper good to know it held up over a full weekend cycle. I updated my Cerbo on Saturday — sitting at a cabin install with a Multi RS 48/6000 and Fogstar Drift cells — and it's been rock solid...
@VivaroDream had this exact same headache at my cabin last year. Turned out my absorption voltage was set a touch low in VictronConnect — Multiplus was "seeing" full when it...
Had something similar crop up at my cabin setup last year — worth sharing in case others have run into this.
Was running a small isolation transformer off a Bluetti AC200MAX and got a horrible low...
@VanIan @DODGuy both nailed the theory — just to add from real experience, when I wired my cabin setup (4x Fogstar Drift 200Ah in 2P2S) I fused each parallel string at the battery terminal before...
@SolarTrevor had exactly this with my setup at the cabin last year. Worth checking your absorption voltage threshold in VictronConnect — mine was set too low (leftover from a AGM profile someone...
@TID_Electric haha "not exploding" — setting the bar high there 😄
Had a similar budget rack battery in my static caravan setup before I switched to Fogstar Drift cells.
Had this exact issue last summer with my cabin setup. The MPPT will cut absorption short if it reckons the battery is already close to full — it's called adaptive absorption and it's on by...
@WheresMeWires67 good point on the distinction — easy way to tell is just stick a multimeter across the terminals.
Been mulling over upgrading the setup at my cabin/static for a while now. Currently running a basic off-grid system — 400W of Renogy panels, a Victron SmartSolar MPPT, and a 200Ah Fogstar lithium.

Had the same thing hit me last autumn with my cabin setup. What sorted it for me was wrapping the battery in a bit of closed-cell foam insulation — dead cheap from B&Q — and chucking a small...

Same rabbit hole here. Ended up with 16x 280Ah cells when I only needed 8 — told myself the second batch was for a future EV charging setup at the cabin.
Finally pulled the trigger on a Fogstar Drift 200Ah to replace the two old 110Ah AGMs I'd been limping along with. Night and day honestly.
