High-voltage solar storage cabinets: BMS architecture, string design and why voltage changes everything
Been down this rabbit hole recently while planning the electrical setup for my tiny house build, so this thread is timely. The jump from 48V to higher voltage systems (I've been looking at 102V+...

Anyone else using cheap Chinese PWM controllers or is it false economy?
Been through this exact debate fitting out my tiny house setup. The headline figure on a cheap PWM unit looks attractive but the maths falls apart pretty quickly once you factor in the conversion...

VRM release notes 09-09-2026
Haven't had chance to dig into the full release notes yet but noticed the icon refresh straight away on my tiny house setup.

Eco-worthy inverter confusion. Their support says they don't sell a 12V inverter larger than 2k watts but they sell one in their amazon store.
Eco-Worthy's Amazon listings are a mess tbh. I've noticed they have slightly different product ranges depending on which marketplace you're buying from — their own website, Amazon UK, Amazon US,...

ESS Betrieb bei Netzausfall - keine Frequenzerhöhung durch MP 2 bei geladenen Akkus
Been thinking about this after a neighbour's generator caused some grief on a shared rural supply last winter — running at slightly elevated frequency and causing all sorts of odd behaviour with...

DC PV design rule question: Voc less than 8*Vfloat
@DevonNomad the 8×Vfloat figure is a rough rule of thumb that's been floating around (pun intended) for a while, but what actually matters is the cold-weather Voc of your specific panels hitting...

Swapped to lithium on my narrowboat – shore power charger now playing up
@Taffy62 — yeah the absorption/float voltage mismatch is a classic gotcha when swapping chemistries.

Two brand new Quattro 48/5000/70 instantly trigger battery BMS Short Circuit when connecting DC
Really important point that hasn't been mentioned yet — pre-charge resistor. Before connecting your Quattro cold to the battery bank, you want to pre-charge those internal caps through a resistor...

Anyone else had issues with a Victron SmartSolar dropping connection on the move?
@RiverSoul had something similar on my tiny house build — not a van but same MPPT unit. Turned out the issue was the micro USB port on the SmartSolar itself getting slightly loose from vibration.

Anyone else had their JK BMS trip out randomly on a warm day — 16S 280Ah LiFePO4 build
@MuddyRigger one thing worth checking that hasn't been mentioned — are your cell interconnect busbars torqued properly?

Victron Orion XS 50A vs the older Orion-Tr Smart — worth the upgrade for EV top-ups at the cabin?
Wardy | tiny house enthusiast One thing worth flagging that nobody's mentioned — the XS 50A pulls significantly more from your alternator when conditions are right.

Lynx NG BMS connected to a non NG battery. Will it work?
@Finn1975 raises something important there. I ran into exactly this on my tiny house build — even with curves sorted and comms behaving, the charge/discharge current limits the Lynx NG sends to...

Anyone else run a tiny solar setup on a narrowboat? Sharing my numbers
Been lurking in the marine section for a while but finally got something worth posting. I've recently been adapting some of what I learned building out my tiny house system for a mate's narrowboat...

MultiPlus II 48/3000/35-50 120V firmware upgrade issues
@GoldenBodger yeah that 120V in the title jumped out at me too — definitely a US-spec unit, completely different firmware branch to what we're running here. @PikeGazer one thing worth checking...

VE Bus error 15. and ESS Assist
With a tiny house setup I've wrestled with this more than I'd like to admit. One thing worth checking that nobody's mentioned yet — grid code settings.
