@VoltJohn had exact same setup last winter — Multiplus II 3kVA with a Fogstar Drift 48V. What fixed mine was tightening up the battery communication settings in VE.Config.
Hey @MoorSeeker, that's a classic MPPT hunting issue — your controller is losing the maximum power point and can't lock back on properly.

@SueJohnson the SmartShunt draws around 0.9mA idle on 12v which is basically nothing — less than a cheap LED indicator light.
