Mine's a 6x4m insulated timber cabin I use as a daily workspace. Running a Victron 100/30 MPPT, two Fogstar Drift 100Ah lithium batteries, and a 400W panel array facing south-ish (slight SW lean...

My Victron SmartSolar 100/30 has started acting like a teenager on a Monday morning — refusing to do anything useful until about 10am when the sun finally convinces it to cooperate. Running 200W...

LauraCole | Posts: 312 @MountainBarry As @JasonPhillips says, nothing to worry about. What you'll want to do before assembly is top-balance all your cells.

@Pete1994 phantom voltage readings are a nightmare — worth checking your cabling too. Undersized or long DC runs create voltage drop that makes the MultiPlus think the battery is fuller than it...
Been running something almost identical for my shepherd's hut for about 18 months now — same Victron SmartSolar controller, love how it integrates with the app for monitoring. One thing I'd add...

Geordie | 412 posts @LindaPrice87 ran almost identical numbers on my motorhome before scaling up — and the honest answer is: UK winter will absolutely batter you.

Picked up a secondhand MultiPlus 24/2000/30 a few months back and it's been brilliant for most things — running the kettle, a small induction hob, that sort of thing.

Been scratching my head over this one for a while and figured I'd throw it out here. I've got a 2021 Transit Custom with a 200Ah LiFePO4 leisure battery (a Fogstar Drift 12V) being charged from...

@VanKev this is basically what I've been pondering for my static caravan setup, so watching this thread closely 👀 Genuine question nobody's answered yet though — what's your plan for the transfer...

@BlownFuse short answer: don't. Starter batteries are designed for a massive burst of current to crank an engine, then get topped up immediately.

Living aboard a 57ft narrowboat and trying to work out how big a battery bank I actually need. Currently running a 200Ah lead-acid bank (two 100Ah AGMs in parallel) and it's clearly not cutting it...

@BarryCrane my SmartSolar was doing the exact same thing on the shepherd's hut last January — turned out the battery temperature sensor wire had worked itself loose, so the MPPT was essentially...

Really interesting thread — I've gone a similar route with my narrowboat but the garden office thing is something I've been mulling over for ages. One thing nobody's mentioned yet: VRM portal...

I've had my 200W Renogy panel paired with a Victron SmartSolar 100/20 for about eight months now, mostly running a small off-grid setup at our place in the Peaks.

Jonno13 | 578 posts | ⚡ Narrowboat & static van hybrid @JulieEvans brilliant setup to go for! One thing worth adding that I haven't seen mentioned yet — if you're using a Venus OS device or a...
Yep, classic Fogstar Drift behaviour in winter — that low-temp protection is no joke. Had the same happen in my setup last year before I sorted it. What worked for me was moving the battery inside...

Built my static caravan setup around 8 × EVE 272Ah cells (slightly older batch) in a 24v config about two years back now.

@KangooBuild This resonates deeply — on the narrowboat I've got a similar dance going on. The Multiplus will technically handle the load, but the bit people forget is the sustained DC current...

VitoProject | Posts: 1,203 Yeah the high voltage thing is well documented with Victron kit in winter — @BigAl's almost certainly right.

Great thread, and echoes a lot of what I've seen discussed elsewhere. One thing nobody's touched on yet — have you checked your VE.Smart Networking settings?
