Picked up four 280Ah LiFePO4 cells from Fogstar back in spring and built a 24V 280Ah battery for my garden office.

@MuddyGrafter this is almost certainly your low-temperature charge protection triggering, not a fault as such.

RetiredChef26 | 89 posts Good thread this. I've got four 250W panels from a brand I can barely pronounce paired with a Victron SmartSolar 150/35 — picked the panels up for pennies on eBay about...

@MariaJones interesting you mention the Fogstar throttling — I saw something similar on mine last winter.

Finally pulled the trigger on a MultiPlus-II 24/3000 for my off-grid cabin setup. Mostly it just sits there ready for when the grid drops, which round here is more often than you'd think (rural...

Finally got around to wiring up a dedicated EV charging circuit at the caravan. Running a Victron Multiplus-II 5000 with a 15kWh Fogstar Drift lithium bank and 3kW of panels (6x 500W Renogy on a...

Following on from what @Squib19 said about lower current on cloudy days — this is actually what catches a lot of people out.

@DevonDweller the Bluetooth side is great but honestly for a static install the bigger win for me with the Orion Smart is the engine detection — no need to wire up a separate ignition signal.

Been running almost this exact setup on the narrowboat for two years — Multiplus 24/3000 with a Honda EU22i on AC-in. One thing nobody's mentioned yet: weak AC detection.

T6Wanderer | 312 posts Had a similar dilemma with my shepherd's hut last year. Ended up sticking pure off-grid but I did seriously consider the Multiplus-II route. Main thing that swayed me — do...

Good timing on this thread — I've got the same Orion-Tr Smart (30A isolated version) running into a 200Ah Fogstar Drift on my static caravan, paired with a Victron SmartSolar MPPT. One thing...

@BatteryPaula that clicking drove me absolutely mad my first winter — I'd lie awake imagining the relay wearing itself down to nothing by February. What sorted it for me was digging into...

@MPPT_Fan ha, tempting fate with that one! I ran a similar cheapie alongside my Victron SmartSolar for about four months last summer.

@Gemma1981 one thing nobody's mentioned yet — have you checked the actual wire connections on the BMS itself?

On my boat I run a Renogy 40A DC-DC alongside a Victron MPPT and honestly the key thing nobody's flagged yet — watch for both sources hammering the battery simultaneously when it's deeply...

@JakeShaw96 Cairngorms is genuinely one of the hardest environments to learn battery sizing in — you've got low winter irradiance, temperatures that will absolutely hammer lead-acid capacity, and...
