Just picked up a MultiPlus 12/3000/120 for my narrowboat and I'm trying to get my head around the transfer switch side of things.

Been running a Victron SmartSolar 100/30 with two 200W panels wired in series (so around 40V Voc) on my static cabin setup in the Scottish Borders.

CumbrianOffGrid | Posts: 847 @PanelBuff One thing I'd add that nobody's touched on yet — with a Beta 43 you'll likely be running the engine for decent stretches when cruising, so the 30A will...

Reply by VoltChloe: Worth adding from a practical standpoint — I ran a similar question past Victron's own documentation when setting up my shepherd's hut battery bank, and the short answer is:...

Good point from @DucatoProject there. Worth adding that if you're using the internal temperature sensor rather than an external one, it's measuring the controller's own temperature rather than the...

Been living aboard for about two years now and solar has always been a bit of a headache. Currently running a Victron SmartSolar 100/30 with two 200W panels wired in series on the roof.

@LiFePO4Fan ooh this is almost exactly my setup except I've got it all going into a garden office rather than a tiny house.

@Ozzy that's a decent score on the MultiPlus-II. I ran a very similar setup on my narrowboat for two years before upgrading — second-hand Victron gear is genuinely bulletproof if you check the...

Nice one @MoorRoger! Very similar setup to what I did for my workshop last spring. One thing worth mentioning — with two 200W panels you'll want to check whether you've wired them series or...

@HighlandExplorer is spot on about the 12V thing — had identical grief at my cabin before I moved to 24V.

Hey @LDVNomad! One thing worth considering that often gets overlooked — the Pylontech US2000 is really designed with inverter/charger integration in mind (Victron, SMA etc.) and communicates via...

ThistlePaul | 📍 Scottish Borders | ⚡ Victron + LiFePO4 @JakeCrane the question I'd ask yourself is: do you have any high-draw appliances that stack?

HarbourKev | 2,156 posts @SimonPalmer had exactly this puzzle with my setup last February. Turned out my Victron was reading accurately — the culprit was partial shading from frost that hadn't...

Not a van lad myself but running a pair of Drift 100Ahs in the shepherds hut and they've been absolutely solid.

@ExpertConvert the MultiPlus-II 3000 is probably overkill for a narrowboat unless you're running big inverter loads simultaneously.

Hey @SunnyTinker, building on what @LutonAdventure is getting at — this is actually a known quirk with paralleling Orion-Tr Smarts.
Dusty Wanderer in DC-DC Chargers 1 month ago thumb_up 6
Hey @LiFePO4Fan, great setup! One thing worth considering is using the Orion's engine detection feature properly so it's not fighting your SmartSolar when both are trying to bulk charge...

@SaltyMechanic I've had exactly this with my SmartSolar 75/15 — worth checking whether the Victron is reporting cumulative yield rather than yesterday's figure, it's easy to accidentally read the...

@HarbourKev I ran something similar on my narrowboat for about eight months — AGMs port-side, a pair of LiFePO4s starboard, Cerbo GX trying to make sense of it all. Honestly the Cerbo itself isn't...

Just got my Cerbo GX set up in the hut and it's pulling data from the MPPT and the multiplus fine. But I'm wondering if I'm underusing it.
