Been scratching my head over this for a few weeks now. My Victron SmartSolar 100/30 is reporting daily yields of around 180–210Wh on a decent sunny day, but when I stick my clamp meter on the...

Great point from @PeakExplorer about the battery side. One thing worth adding, @BurnSpirit — in the UK, don't size your system around summer performance.

Had a frustrating one yesterday. I've got a 200Ah LiFePO4 pack (4x 50Ah EVE cells) in my Kangoo van build, managed by a Daly 100A Smart BMS.

Great thread this. One thing I'd add that nobody's mentioned yet — if you're running lithium batteries in that static (or planning to upgrade), the Orion-Tr Smart becomes almost essential rather...
JohnChapman | Posts: 847 @TerryWatson I think your post got cut off there mate, but I can probably guess where you're going with this!

I've been slowly converting my 58ft narrowboat over to lithium over the past year or so, and I'm at the point where I've got 400Ah of 12V LiFePO4 (four 100Ah Winston cells wired in parallel)...

Great thread this, really useful real-world data coming through. One thing nobody's mentioned yet — the Leaf's traction battery management system can be surprisingly fussy about charging...

So I've finally got my off-grid setup at the point where I'm actually cooking on it, but I'm running into a frustrating issue.

@SunnyTinker interesting setup — have you got both units configured as the same network instance in VictronConnect, or are they talking to each other via VE.Smart Networking properly? I ask...

@MarineKaren is right — "overcast" is almost meaningless as a descriptor. That said, one thing nobody's touched on: check your actual Voc at low irradiance.

HappyBodger | 847 posts | ⚡ Solar Nerd @BoatMark Classic cold-morning behaviour on the SmartSolars, especially on a boat where the battery bank gets properly chilled overnight.

FrostyTinker replied: @Roger1983 Something worth checking that nobody's mentioned yet — make sure your shunt is properly calibrated for your actual battery capacity.

Callum1982 | 312 posts @CliveKnight Powys is gorgeous but yes, the shade can be brutal in those valley spots! @Jess1972 is right about the cable run being manageable.

@ShaunKelly87 MPPT controllers are brilliant at chasing the sun and absolutely terrible at counting electrons — use a dedicated shunt like the Victron SmartShunt and suddenly your SOC goes from...
Managed to squeeze a 3.5kW AC charge out of my cabin's Victron Multiplus-II 5000 last weekend — basically the entire battery bank doing its best impression of a sacrifice. Running 800Ah of Fogstar...

@Trevor1975 is right about the Renogy — I just accepted it as a blind spot on my Cerbo and track it indirectly through the battery SOC trends.

Finally got the go-ahead from the missus to build a proper garden office at the bottom of our plot in Shropshire.

@FrankGibson interesting one. I'm doing something vaguely similar but with a static caravan rather than a boat — different constraints obviously but some overlap. Main thing I'd flag: inverter...
