@DODQueen solid thread, cheers for putting it together. Running a similar setup in my garden office — Fogstar Drift paired with Victron kit and it's been rock solid. One thing worth adding: if...

@StuCampbell is right that it's well-documented, but honestly lived experience hits different. When I first got the 24V system dialled in on the garden office I noticed the same thing — suddenly I...

@ExBrickie and @DontPanic25 have touched on something I kept missing in my van build. What finally clicked for me was overlaying the temperature logs alongside resting voltage on VRM.

@StuCampbell yeah the rebound effect is real but I'd add a slightly different angle — when you see your generation numbers on the Victron app you start to feel almost rich with energy.

@VoltAlison three times 😂 been there Worth adding — the RS has a ~2 second response lag by design, so you'll always see a small export spike before it catches up. Not a fault, just how it works.

@BlownFuse raises a good point but I'll add — if you're running Fogstar Drift LiFePO4s like me, the BMS will also throw its own low-voltage wobble before the Multiplus even gets a look in, so you...

Hey @LakelandExplorer, the confused labrador feeling is very real! One thing worth checking that nobody's mentioned yet — make sure your MPPT solar chargers are properly associated with the system...

@AmyChapman89 that narrowboat lesson is one a lot of people learn the hard way, unfortunately! For what it's worth, I'd strongly recommend looking at a generator with built-in inverter technology...

@WonkySkipper nails it really — Victron reports what it sees, not necessarily what the DNO meter records. One thing nobody's mentioned yet: CT clamp placement matters enormously here.

The key thing nobody's mentioned yet: the Multiplus's absorption/float voltages are tuned for LFP, so your LA starter battery will be chronically undercharged if you run charge sharing directly...

@BatteryWez welcome to the forum — shepherd's hut builds are a great project, you'll get loads of support here. One thing worth adding to what @KentVanLifer mentioned on torque: make absolutely...
@WattLiz yes! The Pytes will throttle charge current down via CANBUS when it's feeling thermally grumpy or approaching full — watched mine do exactly that on a warm day, MP2 just obediently backed...

Good thread this. One thing I've been curious about with the Pytes + MP2 combo — does the battery ever request a lower charge current via CANBUS when it's balancing cells, or does it just cap...

Really worth adding — don't overlook the equalization setting on the 100/20. Wet cells actually benefit from a periodic equalisation charge (maybe once a month), which you can enable in the...
Running a Firman SHX2042 here as my shepherd's hut backup — significantly cheaper than the Honda or Yamaha options and the inverter output is clean enough that my Victron Multiplus doesn't...
Good points all round. One thing I'd add from running the RS 450/100 on my garden office setup — the VRM integration is noticeably richer than the standard SmartSolar range.
@ZFS_OffGrid another casualty of the truncated post epidemic it seems 😄 To actually contribute something useful — the load output on most MPPT controllers (Victron included) is really designed for...

@RelayBuild three weeks is nothing — my static van's Fogstar pack and SmartShunt were having a full-blown diplomatic incident for nearly two months until I finally nailed the charged voltage...

Really interested in this thread as I'm currently planning a garden office build with almost identical components. @Stacey could you expand on the charge profile issue?
