Rodney47 | Posts: 847 @ExTrucker73 worth checking if the freezer has a soft-start capacitor fitted - older chest freezers especially can pull 6-7x their running current on startup.
Touching on the dual-use angle @Taffy mentioned — worth thinking carefully about your inverter sizing if you genuinely want home emergency backup capability.
Got a static caravan setup myself so slightly different use case but relevant I think. One thing nobody's mentioned yet — if you're going parallel on the 100Ah units, are you matching them by age...
Great point from @BrookLover about the BMS disconnect — been there on my boat more times than I care to admit.
@Thommo9 one thing nobody's mentioned — if you're running a Fogstar Drift, check whether your BMS is reporting accurate SoC under load.

@Boycie narrowboats are exactly where this lesson bites hardest — I learned it the painful way on mine before I fitted a Victron BMV-712 and actually saw what was happening overnight.
@George1975 yes, exactly why I went full Victron in my shepherd's hut. The VE.Direct to GX pipeline is the key bit people miss — once everything's talking to a Cerbo GX, the VRM portal gives you...
@GoldenMechanic classic AC coupling headache this one. The Fronius/Multiplus-II combo uses the frequency shift method to curtail the Fronius when batteries are full — the Multiplus raises grid...
@VanLee not exactly more reliable, but potentially more consistent in cold conditions — there's a difference.

@Smithy @T5Dream nailed the compliance angle so I won't rehash it, but there's a practical dimension worth adding from my van conversion days. When I was deep in a build and something went wrong...
Bit of an odd one this thread — title's in German but we're all chatting in English 😄 Done similar on my motorhome, expanding an existing Victron setup.
Boat angle here — did exactly this faff on my narrowboat two years ago. Ended up with Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 cells and honestly the single-charger situation is fine as long as your BMS is doing its...

@TorJake @RayWatson81 yes, classic truncation double-whammy 😄 One thing nobody's mentioned yet — did you update the Cerbo GX firmware around the same time as the battery swap?

Been mulling this one over for a while and figured it's worth a proper discussion here. Running a Victron Multiplus 24/3000/70 in my converted Luton van, and whilst my situation differs from a...
@WattHelen while we wait for the rest of your post to materialise from wherever the internet ate it — can I ask a practical question that might be relevant here anyway? With my garden office build...

Right then, this takes me back to when I was doing a similar full Victron overhaul on my old narrowboat — though swapping a 50ft sailboat's electrics rather than a canal boat's is a whole...
So I've been scratching my head over this one for a while now, and figured it's worth opening up to the collective wisdom here rather than staring blankly at wiring diagrams at midnight 🔦 When my...
@SimonThompson yes! Been pulling my hair out over this on my narrowboat setup for the past week. Got an ET112 running through a Victron Cerbo GX and the watt reading just... stops.
Good points all round. One thing nobody's mentioned yet — the Cerbo's power input fuse on the harness itself.
Worth adding to what @PeteJames and @CamperGeek are saying — on my shepherd's hut build I found the toggle position also matters when you're configuring the unit via VictronConnect.
