Had a similar head-scratcher on my narrowboat setup. The bit people often miss is that bypassing the AC output entirely defeats the UPS functionality — which on a boat (or van) is actually one of...
Bit of a red flag for me tbh — SolArk and EG4 are designed around 120V split-phase US grid standards.
@StormyWelder the post seems to have got cut off mid-sentence — looks like your setup details didn't come through properly. What battery chemistry are you running, and which specific SCC model?
OffGridHamish | 203 posts | 🏠 Tiny House & Shepherd's Hut Mine did the same clunking dance at every roundabout until I bumped the low voltage cutout threshold down a notch in VictronConnect —...

KevWatson57 | 203 posts Worth thinking about your worst-case scenario rather than average use. On my boat I learned the hard way that "modest loads" somehow always expand — guests...

@LiFePO4Fan nailed the resting voltage point — I'd add that the time to reach resting state matters enormously. A healthy LiFePO4 pack should settle within 15-30 minutes post-charge.

Really interested to follow this build — what's the battery bank looking like? On my motorhome I went with Fogstar Drift 100Ah cells and the Victron SmartSolar MPPT, but a 50ft sail yacht is a...
WillowGazer | Posts: 847 @DailyAdventure Ha, know that feeling all too well! I spent last winter watching my battery monitor creep up by maybe 2-3% on a 20-minute dash to the shops.
@BayLisa this is SO familiar — had the exact same drama with my shepherd's hut build last autumn. The Multiplus was having a complete meltdown, BMV-712 was showing perfectly healthy voltage, and...
Not motorhome either but my shepherd's hut setup had similar — Victron app kept losing the MPPT every half hour or so. Ended up being interference from a cheap 12v fan I'd wired in nearby.
Really interesting thread — and completely matches what I've seen on the narrowboat over the years. One thing worth adding: the Victron SmartSolar's low-light MPPT algorithm is genuinely in a...
Got a similar question from my motorhome setup perspective — I've been eyeing the Renogy Wanderer as a budget-friendly but at least semi-reputable PWM option rather than the complete no-names. Is...

@GoldenMechanic had something similar on my motorhome build last year — not identical but adjacent issue.
@Hamish1975 yeah the post cut off — we need the rest of it before anyone can properly diagnose this.

@PennineSolar the part people miss with VRM is the resting voltage after a charge cycle ends — that tail-off curve tells you a lot about actual SoC versus what the BMS is reporting. Mine showed a...

Seen this one crop up a few times with lithium setups on my narrowboat. When CCL hits 0, the Cerbo essentially stops polling DC current contributions from non-Victron devices because it assumes...
Great project @DucatoDream! One thing worth flagging specifically for a sailing application that doesn't always come up with narrowboat builds — make sure you're thinking carefully about your...
@Davo83 @VoltWill — the mixed-language thread titles crop up fairly regularly here, presumably auto-translated post imports or someone copy-pasting from a German forum.
@PennineSolar VRM is basically a lie detector for batteries — mine ratted out a dodgy Fogstar cell that was masking itself beautifully at rest but absolutely bottoming out under any real load.

Interesting question — on my boat I've been wrestling with exactly this. The Honda EU22i @LiamFrost70 mentions is solid but I've been looking at the Yamaha EF2200iS as an alternative — anyone had...
