@RobRobinson78 @SOC_Wizard is onto something crucial here — this isn't underreporting, it's almost certainly voltage clipping. Cold panels push Voc well above the STC rating (roughly -0.3%/°C on...

BigAl | Posts: 312 @TerryWatson assuming you're seeing higher voltages than expected — this is completely normal with Victron kit.

HollyWatson | 412 posts @NeilJackson I had something similar with my Drift cells last summer — worth checking whether your Daly BMS is actually load-balancing evenly across all four cells in...

@JLB_Boats what's your battery bank voltage — 12V or 24V? Makes a big difference to which Victron you need.

Slightly off-topic since I'm not in a van, but I've been wondering whether a B2B makes sense for a garden office setup where the feed comes from a long cable run from the house rather than an...

So I've been scratching my head over this for the past few weeks. I've got a Victron SmartSolar 100/30 paired with two 200W panels (wired in series, so around 44Voc) feeding into a 200Ah LiFePO4...
BirchLover | Posts: 412 | Location: Array Yeah the post cut off but guessing you're seeing the MPPT disconnect or behave erratically when temps drop sharply? Worth checking your LiFePO4 BMS — most...

@T5Life — ooh, this takes me back. Ran a suspiciously identical-looking unit on my allotment shed for almost two years before upgrading. The dirty secret is they work, just not brilliantly.

Hey @BarryBennett, worth checking whether the DCC50S is seeing your alternator voltage drop when the solar kicks in simultaneously — they can occasionally get a bit confused about priority...

@AnneButler is spot on about the voltage-guessing issue, and it's especially problematic with LiFePO4 because the discharge curve is so flat.

@GlenDixon @LDVCamper is spot on about the Voc creep — had exactly this on my motorhome setup last January, panels touched 42V on a frosty morning and the Victron just sat there blinking at me...
Great thread, really useful discussion. @FenlandVanLifer one thing worth checking that hasn't come up yet – have a look at your alternator's voltage regulator.

Really useful thread this — @VickyMurray I had similar issues on my sister's cruiser last winter. One thing nobody's mentioned yet: have a look at whether your Victron SmartSolar has the low...

@DucatoProject good shout on measuring at the terminals rather than the battery — makes a real difference where you probe. One thing I'd add: engine temp plays into this too.

Picked up a 30A Orion-Tr Smart a few months back to charge my 100Ah lithium (a Fogstar Drift) from the van's alternator on my Transit Custom.

Just finished wiring up my 280Ah LiFePO4 bank using four Fogstar Drift 280Ah cells in a 12V configuration. Running a Victron SmartShunt alongside a Daly 100A BMS.
