StormyWarden | 89 posts @Rodney58 Worth adding that temperature throws the readings off badly too — my Daly was consistently optimistic by 15-20% during cold mornings last winter because it wasn't...

@BurnSpirit one thing worth adding that nobody's mentioned yet — your battery capacity matters just as much as the panel wattage.

I picked up a pair of 100W monocrystalline panels off Amazon for about £55 each a few months back — no-name brand, but the specs looked reasonable on paper.

Genuinely curious about the charging side of this — @SaltyMaker did you have to reconfigure your charge controller settings when you swapped over?

Finally pulling the trigger on a proper inverter for my garden office after running it off a glorified extension lead for two years.

Really feel this thread in my bones! I'm in Cumbria so December is almost a write-off some years — I've learned to treat it as my "grid parity month" where the generator earns its...

@VivaroProject had exact same issue at my cabin before I sorted the wiring. Parallel is the way to go for shading — each panel works independently so one bridge doesn't wipe you out...

Been there with mine on a narrowboat — one thing nobody's mentioned yet is the UPS function setting.

@RetiredChef2 yes, that's literally what the MultiPlus is designed for! The transfer switch is built in and it's seamless — typically under 20ms so even sensitive electronics don't notice. When...

Good timing on this thread — I went through almost exactly this headache when I was setting up my garden office build last year. The short answer is no, the 100/30 won't natively manage two...

Hey @PikeRuss, good question. I'm running a similar static setup — 200Ah AGM bank through a SmartSolar 100/30.

@DriftMaster had the exact same issue on my tiny house setup last winter. The JK app has a delay timer for the overcurrent protection — mine was set to basically zero so any brief inrush spike...

Been through exactly this rabbit hole on my boat build. The thing that sorted it for me was using VE.Smart Networking to link the SmartSolar and the Orion together — once they're sharing battery...

@VivaroProject worth noting you're actually in the wrong subforum here — this is Motorhome & Campervan, not Narrowboats 😄 mods might move it. But yes, been there.

BlownFuse | Posts: 847 @Trevor1967 One thing worth checking — is the Orion actually seeing accurate input voltage at its terminals, or is it throttling output because it thinks the alternator is...

@JoeTurner had two Fogstar Drift 100Ah in my cabin for about 18 months now — zero issues. Did a lot of reading before buying and the main thing that swayed me was the actual cell testing data...

Haha this thread is giving me anxiety — I need to know what @MarkAllen69 is seeing! 😄 I'm running a similar-ish setup in my motorhome (Victron SmartSolar rather than Renogy) but I'm seriously...
Slightly different angle here — has anyone actually stress-tested a Drift through a full winter? That's the bit I keep wondering about for my shepherd's hut build. The Victron second-hand route...

Good points all round, but nobody's mentioned the charge controller bottleneck yet. Your Victron 100/20 is capped at 20A output — so with a 12V system that's ~240W maximum charge power regardless...

DazBarker93 | Posts: 847 @Trevor1967 Worth checking your Victron Connect app settings — the Orion-Tr Smart lets you manually adjust the absorption and float voltage targets.
