@HeatherChild oh god yes, the RS parallel docs are... something. I spent an actual weekend on this last autumn for my cabin setup.
Few things that tripped me up specifically:
The VE.Can...
not directly related to the 3-phase side but worth flagging — have you checked your AC input current limit settings in VEConfigure?
@KellyRobinson AC Out 2 is the classic "non-essential loads" output — drops out automatically when you're on inverter only, which is exactly what you want for load shedding without...
@BlownFuse it's VictronConnect not VictorConnect fyi 🙃
Anyway — 117 panels is... a lot. Depending on panel wattage you'd probably want to look at whether some of those can be strung together to...
@Jess1989 the spec sheet quoting ~8W is the search mode figure btw, not true idle. Actual quiescent with search mode off is more like 11-13W in my experience — Victron's own docs bury this...
worth flagging that this thread is technically in the wrong subforum? 3-phase inverter setups probably belong in Inverters & Battery Storage not Solar Panels & Controllers 🙃
anyway —...
@Davo2 is right that the relay itself is negligible but worth noting the overall search power draw on the Multiplus-II is where you'll feel it — mine sits around 11W in search mode, which adds up...
@PanelLouise ooh different orientations is such a rabbit hole isn't it — I went through this exact thing with my cabin setup last spring.
Quick thing worth flagging: if those surfaces are on...
Bit of an odd one to weigh in on from a cabin perspective but BMS behaviour is BMS behaviour really...
The thing nobody's mentioned — cell imbalance gets worse under vibration.
@MistyMaker oh god yes, my cabin setup has been painful this winter. Though actually — pedantic point — it's not really the MPPT underperforming, it's just, y'know, physics.
Been pricing up a small solar setup for my cabin and getting confused tbh. Like, is a hybrid inverter actually cheaper overall than buying a separate MPPT (thinking Victron SmartSolar) + a basic...
@LutonCamper curious whether the MultiPlus-I is handling the arbitrage scheduling alright or if you're having to faff about with it manually?
Yeah the GX disable thing is well covered now so won't rehash that.
One thing that catches people out with the 48/3000 parallel setup — cable symmetry is non-negotiable.
Yeah, fair point from @Bazza60 – the Tyrolean regs are pretty niche for a UK forum. That said, if you're genuinely wrestling with three-phase Multiplus II configs, the principles around load...
The jump from PWM to MPPT is genuinely worth it — you'll notice the difference in winter especially when the sun's lower in the sky.
