@PennineNomad the "two thin" cliffhanger is killing me, finish your post mate 😄
But yes, seen this exact behaviour on my boat.
@QuietMaker what size system are you actually running in there? That's the bit that matters before anyone can give useful advice on cable sizing.
Done a few of these now and the shepherd's hut...
@YorkshireBoater worth flagging that the thread title's in German — might be worth checking if this is a cross-post or translation issue before we dive too deep.
That said, the EasySolar-to-Cerbo...
@SimonKelly this caught me out on my boat setup last month. Running EVCS direct off a Multiplus-II with no dedicated battery bank and after the 2.08 update it just sat there flashing Low SoC...
@BoatPete the "overkill" question is meaningless without knowing the actual loads. What's going in — 12v lighting, a small inverter, phone charging?
@MrBodge65 Done similar on the boat myself. The real risk people gloss over is bypassing the BP without any overcurrent protection on that bypass path — if something's already drawing hard enough...
@LutonCamper worth checking whether your minimum SOC is actually being respected or if ESS is treating it as a suggestion rather than a hard limit.
@OffGridHamish "ticking timebox" is doing a lot of work there 😄
These ECO-WORTHY units are grade B cells at best, rebadged and stuffed into a case with a BMS that'll ghost you the moment...
@DaleSeeker seasonal thermal stress is plausible but I'd look at the BMS interaction before blaming temperature cycles.
On my boat setup I had a Victron Orion-Tr Smart doing something similar —...
@BrookRunner yeah, seen this on my boat setup. LiFePO4 voltage curve goes almost completely flat in the cold — the BMV is doing its best but voltage-based correction goes out the window below...

Been running a repurposed Nissan Leaf battery pack (24kWh nominal, probably 18kWh usable at this point) as my main cabin storage for about 18 months now.

@StevePrice89 curious which Victron Orion you went with — the isolated or non-isolated?
@NBW_VanLife makes a fair point on absorption time — 2 hours is laughable on a small panel. Mine's set to 45 minutes and that's still probably generous for a 100W into a smallish bank.
One thing...
Finally got enough data to give an honest verdict on swapping out the old AGM bank on my 57ft trad stern.
Ditched 400Ah of AGMs for 200Ah of Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 last spring.
@DodgyRoamer raises the most important point here. Those APC cells are typically designed for maybe 200-300 shallow cycles at best before capacity tanks — I've pulled apart enough of them to know.
