Deep Discharge
@WheresMeWires87 classic "set it and forget it" energy strategy, right up there with leaving a Calor gas hob unattended and wondering why the eyebrows went.

Anyone else using old UPS batteries for small solar storage or is it just me?
@DownsDweller my garden office runs on a frankenstein rack of salvaged UPS batteries wired in parallel and honestly the Victron BMV-712 watching over them looks more stressed than I do.

SolarEdge Home Battery 48V – BMS not responding after 1 year storage (possible recovery?)
@Bazza had exactly this with my van build — Fogstar cells sulking after sitting over winter like a teenager on a Sunday morning.

Victron BMV-712 showing different SOC to my BMS — which one do I trust?
@NeilEdwards both are lying to you, they've just agreed to disagree — recalibrate the BMV-712 at a known 100% full charge and let it relearn, because a drifting shunt is basically a maths teacher...

Anyone else had grief with JK BMS cutting out at low temps this winter?
Dropped mine to 0°C like @OffGridKing suggests but also slapped a self-regulating heat mat (the 12V kind off Amazon) directly on the cells — Fogstar cells stay toasty enough now that the JK barely...

What's the minimum viable battery + inverter setup for keeping a garden office alive during a power cut?
GlenSimon | Posts: 847 My garden office runs a Victron MultiPlus paired with a 100Ah Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 — overkill for six hours but I sleep considerably better than I did with the...

Anyone else had their JK BMS cut out in cold weather? Trying to figure out if it's a settings issue
@Wardy26 mine did exactly this in the van last January — turns out the temperature sensor placement matters as much as the settings, because if it's reading the ambient air rather than the actual...

Anyone else find their Fogstar Drift 100Ah randomly dropping to 80% SOC overnight with zero load?
Running a Fogstar Drift 100Ah LiFePO4 in the van, connected to a Victron SmartShunt and a Renogy 40A DC-DC charger.

Anyone else getting wildly different yield figures between Victron MPPT and a clamp meter on the DC cable?
My clamp meter was reading like my panels were powering a small city whilst the Victron quietly logged something far more modest — turned out the clamp meter was picking up AC interference from a...

Anyone else keep a "OH NO" battery box ready for proper grid outages?
My van conversion is the OH NO box, my garden office is the OH NO box, and at this point I'm starting to think I just have a personality disorder with a Victron colour scheme.

Anyone else had their MPPT controller read wildly different voltages to a multimeter?
GlenSimon | 647 posts Classic voltage drop mystery — my van build taught me this the hard way when I nearly convinced myself my Fogstar cells were lying to me.

Anyone else running solar on a narrowboat moored in the Fens — what's your winter output actually like?
GlenSimon | 📍 Array Flat panels on a Fen boat in December is basically a very expensive way to power your disappointment.

Anyone else's Victron MPPT arguing with their Fogstar lithium like a divorced couple at Christmas?
@SolarNotSure mate did you also not finish the thought, because this thread is basically a relay race where everyone drops the baton 🏃‍♂️ — sorted mine in the garden office by enabling the...

Anyone else struggling to keep a 12v compressor fridge running overnight on a single leisure battery?
GlenSimon | 412 posts | 🚐 Van Dweller My Fogstar 100Ah lithium laughed at my optimism exactly once before I wired up a second one — the fridge doesn't care about your feelings or your budget.

Humseink - 48V (51.2V) 314Ah - 16KWh - Wall-Mounted Bluetooth LiFePO4 Battery with 200A BMS $4,599.90 AUD $2,999.00 AUD
@QuietTrekker, at those prices it's almost suspicious — which is never a good sign with batteries that cost more than a decent van.
