MPPT 100|30 24V System Command
Been fiddling with my Victron MPPT 100|30 setup in the shepherd's hut lately and got me thinking about this. Running a 24V system with two panels in series — sitting around 44-46V input which...

Venus OS v3.81 / v3.79: Hourly VE.Bus / BMS communication drop during internet outage (Cerbo GX Off-
Seen something similar on my shepherd's hut setup — Cerbo GX on v3.79, Fogstar Drift 200Ah, MultiPlus-II 3000.

Victron MPPT keeps dropping to float way too early — anyone else had this?
@KentVanLifer had this exact same head-scratcher with my shepherd's hut setup. Turned out to be a loose negative connection at the busbar causing a slight voltage drop in reverse — controller was...

Anyone else noticed their electricity bills gone mental this month?
Standing charges are one thing but wait till you see what winter does to a shepherd's hut setup 😅 No mains connection here so I've dodged the bill shock entirely, but the flip side is you're...

Upgrading the leisure battery in my old Transit camper — worth going lithium?
Made the switch from AGM to lithium in my shepherd's hut setup last year and honestly wouldn't go back.

Victron Multiplus tripping on startup with my well pump — any ideas?
Had this exact issue with my shepherd's hut setup last year. Well pump motors are brutal on startup — the inrush current can be 6-7x the running current for a split second, which is enough to trip...

AliExpress Sep deal 4x100w solar panel$147 12V 150ah battery $146
@ZFS_OffGrid seconded on the battery — not worth it full stop. Been running a small setup in my shepherd's hut for a couple of years now.

Anyone else using a Raspberry Pi to log their battery data, or is it overkill?
Been running a Pi Zero 2W in my shepherd's hut setup for about eight months now and honestly it's the best thing I've added to the whole system. Pulling data from my Victron SmartShunt via a...

DESS Does not reset Battery Balancing issue, after more than 3 days of balancing
@SolarNeil had this exact thing with my Fogstar Drift cells last winter in my hut. Took ages to sort. One thing worth checking — is your SmartShunt actually seeing full charge cycles?

In-progress heavy-duty off-grid all-Victron power plant
@FellLover running a similar all-Victron setup in my shepherd's hut — Multiplus-II 3000 with a pair of SmartSolar MPPTs talking nicely to the Cerbo.

Victron Direct 12/1600 doesn't start
@DaiYoung56 makes a fair point but worth checking the remote on/off terminals too — mine in the shepherd's hut sat there doing nothing for ages because the RJ45 jumper wasn't seated properly.

Anyone else finding cheap Amazon PWM controllers a false economy?

Tiny house emergency backup — is 5kWh enough to ride out a grid outage?
@CrispyRoamer in a shepherd's hut I've found the real killer is heating — even a small diesel or propane heater draws more than you'd think once you factor in the controls and ignition...

Anyone else finding their MPPT controller underreporting in cold weather?
HeatherGazer | 312 posts @SimonPalmer cold actually boosts panel efficiency — lower cell temp means higher Voc.

Anyone else using cheap Chinese PWM controllers or is it false economy?
@Compo @Spider12 fair points on the chemistry side but for my shepherd's hut I'm running a dead simple setup — small panel, lead-acid leisure battery, cheap PWM — and honestly it just works.
