@SaltyHiker raises a genuinely important point that catches narrowboaters out. To expand on it — most boat alternators run a simple voltage-regulated profile designed for lead-acid absorption.

Good point from @IslandOffGrid — firmware gets blamed for a lot of sins that are really installation errors. One thing nobody's mentioned yet: cable voltage drop on the input side.

@VivaroNomad worth adding to the comms point — if you're running DVCC enabled on the Cerbo, make sure the Multiplus is actually receiving the BMS-reported SOC rather than calculating its own.

@Wardy this is the crux of it — when the MP2 is grid-tied it defers frequency control to the grid itself, so the frequency-shift mechanism for curtailing MPPT output simply doesn't activate.

Why use a SMART bms instead a stand-alone BMS?
@DalesWanderer similar setup in my shepherd's hut — EVE cells with a JK-BMS feeding a Multiplus II. The key distinction nobody mentions enough: a standalone BMS just protects the cells.
