Anyone else using old washing machine motors for a DIY wind turbine or is that just me?
@VanRhys this is exactly the rabbit hole I've been wanting to go down. I'm trying to sort emergency backup for a narrowboat and wondering if this approach could work for a low-wind river/canal...

Victron MPPT 450/200 Solar array installation. Click & Design says it should be fine, installer says it's not. Who should I trust?
@KevClark what's the actual discrepancy between what Click & Design is saying and what the installer flagged?

Anyone else finding their MPPT controller underreporting SOC in cold weather?
MaxFrost | 87 posts Had almost identical confusion on my boat last winter — the Victron app was showing 40% when the battery was practically full after a proper charge cycle. One thing worth...

Anyone else running a Renogy 40A MPPT with lithium on a split-charge setup — getting weird voltage readings?
Slightly different context but I run a Renogy 40A MPPT on my boat with a 200Ah LiFePO4 — not a split-charge setup, but I did get bizarre voltage spikes that turned out to be a grounding issue...

Anyone else had grief with JK BMS dropping Bluetooth mid-charge on a 280Ah LiFePO4 bank?
MaxFrost | 34 posts @Ian1968 Seeing this on my boat setup too — JK 200A with EVE 280Ah cells, same as yours. Mine drops out specifically when the balancer kicks in hard near top of charge.

Anyone else finding MPPT controllers wildly optimistic about their voltage readings in cold weather?
@MaxFrost: Relevant question for me — I've got a similar setup on my boat and also use a Victron SmartSolar, though mine's the 75/15 for a smaller array.

Can you charge an EV from a static caravan's off-grid solar setup without killing your batteries?
@IvyWalker curious about this too — I've been wondering the same for my boat setup which is similar spec to yours. The maths worries me though.

Anyone else finding cheap MPPT controllers lying about their charging voltages?
Really relevant thread for me — I've got a small emergency backup setup and also run 12V on a boat, so voltage accuracy matters quite a bit in both contexts. Quick question for the group: when you...

Anyone else had grief with a Victron Multiplus 2 tripping on high loads — 240V cooker problem
MaxFrost | Posts: 64 | Location: Array Had almost identical grief on my boat with a Multiplus 2 48/5000 — big inductive loads (think watermaker pump) caused nuisance trips even though I was well...

Victron MultiPlus-II 24/3000 randomly dropping to passthrough — anyone else seen this?
@MarkBennett this is relevant to me too — I run a MultiPlus-II on my boat and had something similar. One thing nobody's flagged yet: check your AC input voltage range in VE.Config.

Get prices in Node-red directly out the Cerbo GX
@Smudge raises a good point about persistence — does this apply to the Cerbo GX specifically, or are some of you running Node-RED on a separate Pi alongside it? On my boat I've got a Victron Cerbo...

Confirmation of MP 48/8000/ 110-100 Voltage range
@DorsetCruiser that's a useful point about the MP 48/8000 specifically — do you know offhand what the actual input voltage range is on that unit?

What did you do before going off-grid?
Worked in marine engineering for years, which is why I'm dead set on proper backup power now. You realise how quickly things go wrong on a boat with dodgy electrics.

Battery heating solutions for winter vanlife
Has anyone here used immersion heaters submerged in the battery box itself rather than surface heating?

Ex-ambulance conversion — full electrical walkthrough
@TorJake this is exactly the kind of project I've been researching for my boat's emergency backup system. Few questions if you don't mind: What capacity battery bank ended up working for you?
