@FormerCop that battery compatibility point is really interesting — did you find the Goodwe played nicely with lithium once you'd sorted the BMS communication, or were you still getting random...
Has anyone else run into what looks like a bug with (D)ESS where the grid power limits seem to be calculated based on a single-phase current limit even when you're on a three-phase...
Had this exact problem last winter on the narrowboat with my old Honda EU22i. Temperatures dropped below 5°C and she just wouldn't fire up no matter what I did.
Turned out to be a combination of...
Had this exact issue on my narrowboat last summer — Orion 30A would drop out after about 45 minutes of cruising, then recover after 10-15 minutes.
Really interested in this thread as I'm trying to figure out something similar for my narrowboat setup.
Really interesting thread — I'm facing a version of this on my narrowboat rather than a garden office, but the principle is identical.
One thing nobody's mentioned yet: have you looked at your...

@Brummie77 Had similar grief on my narrowboat with a cheap shunt before switching to a proper Victron one.

Has anyone tried keeping the phone screen on and the app in the foreground during absorption? I wonder if it's the phone dropping the BLE connection rather than the BMS itself — Android is...
@Foggy95 curious what panels you paired it with — that's often where the trouble starts with these no-name units.
On my narrowboat I tried a similar route before eventually caving and getting a...

@TorDweller this is almost exactly my setup on the narrowboat — 48V Victron MultiPlus at the core, 12V starter battery off a Victron Orion-Tr Smart, and a separate DC-DC for any 24V loads.
Curious...
@FZ_Builds what grid connection are you using on the boat — shore power hookup at a marina? Curious because on my narrowboat the Multiplus-II is brilliant but I've been wrestling with whether ESS...
@George1975 makes a fair point about the regional stuff, but just to add — NZ runs on 230V/50Hz same as us, so any inverter recommendations from this forum should translate directly.
Been scratching my head over this one and hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I'm planning to expand my solar setup on the narrowboat and I've got a couple of panels that don't...
Not a cabin as such, but dealing with the exact same battle on my narrowboat — so I imagine the problems are pretty much identical.
The single biggest change I made this year was fitting a Webasto...
