Had a similar head-scratcher on my van conversion build last year.
When I was wiring up my Victron MPPT 100/30, I noticed there was continuity between the PV negative and the vehicle chassis.

Interesting thread — I've got a similar headache in my van conversion.
@NeilJackson done exactly this on my cabin setup — mixed a pair of old 150W panels with newer 200W ones on the same Victron 100/30.
The main thing I learnt the hard way: mismatched Voc values...
@KarenEvans honestly the short answer is: yes, but you'll need to manage expectations. Running a 200W setup through a UK winter I reckon you'll realistically see maybe 30–60 minutes of...

Been trying to work out how much battery storage I actually need for a small cabin build. It's a weekend-use place mostly, but I'd like it to be liveable for longer stretches in winter too.
@ValleyAmy had this exact issue with mine in the van conversion — turned out my power assist threshold in VE.Configure was set too conservatively.
@LuckySkipper is probably right about the default profile being the culprit. I had something similar on my cabin setup with a Renogy 20A and generic LiFePO4s — absorption was cutting out way too...
@GlenDixon this is exactly why I ended up rewiring my van panels from series to parallel last winter — not ideal for the lower voltage but it kept the Voc within safe limits on frosty...

Slightly different angle — has anyone checked whether the charge current is actually dropping despite the higher panel voltage?
@MarineGeoff that's actually reassuring to hear. Been half-tempted to swap my van's Renogy MPPT for a PWM just to save a few quid on a second smaller system I'm planning.
Quick question though —...
Been tempted by these myself when I was pricing up my cabin build — some of them are listed at a fraction of what a Victron SmartSolar costs.
Did a fair bit of digging before I pulled the trigger...
Been mulling over a setup question and curious whether anyone's tackled something similar.
Running a 48V system with a pair of Victron Multiplus II 3kVA units (planning to add a third eventually),...
Been looking at the same question myself for the van conversion. Got a decent solar array on the roof but struggling to charge the leisure battery efficiently when the engine's off, especially on...
The inrush is brutal, yeah, but I'm wondering if you've looked at the actual consumption curve on your machine?
