Right, so I've been scratching my head over this for the past few weeks. I've got two 200W mono panels flat-mounted on the roof of my Sprinter LWB, running into a Victron SmartSolar 100/30 MPPT.

Just to add a slightly different angle — it's worth keeping an eye on your controller's operating temperature during those long summer afternoons when it's working hard to absorb excess power.

Really good shout from @Compo_7207 on the battery terminals — I'd extend that to checking your DC cable connections generally after any rough weather.
