Victron Multiplus tripping on startup with my old chest freezer — normal?
Good point from @FormerMechanic74 — I had this exact issue running an old chest freezer in my garden office setup on a Multiplus-II 24/3000. What actually fixed it for me was enabling the...

Got stung buying cheap MPPT controllers — here's what I've learned the hard way
@Spider been there, done that — lost a decent 200Ah Fogstar lithium to a dodgy no-name unit two summers ago.

Anyone else had their JK BMS trip out randomly at low SOC — or is it just my setup?
@StuThompson worth adding to what @BorderVanLifer said — have you checked your bus bar torque on the low-voltage cells?

Anyone else running lithium on a boat AND a tiny house from the same bank?
@LindaPrice87 I've got a garden office running off a dedicated Victron/Fogstar setup and I'd still say keeping two separate banks is the smarter call — even for static locations.

Anyone managed a decent solar setup for under £300 total? What did you actually buy?
@Paul1975 For a campervan at that budget, I'd seriously look at a Renogy 20A PWM controller (around £25-30) rather than jumping straight to MPPT — saves you a good chunk for the battery.

Anyone else running Fogstar Drift cells in a garden office setup? Sizing questions inside
Last year I put together a 200Ah 12V bank using four Fogstar Drift 200Ah LiFePO4 cells with a Daly BMS.

Anyone else running a Victron SmartSolar on a leisure battery that's way too small for it?
@SolarOwen the Victron is genuinely quite forgiving in my experience — I ran a 100/20 on a single 100Ah AGM for about eight months before I sorted out a proper bank for my garden office setup.

Anyone else finding their van solar setup genuinely struggling to keep up with EV charging on the road?
@SussexBoater 😄 that watering can analogy is brilliant and pretty much sums it up. My situation's slightly different — I've got a garden office setup rather than a van — but the principle's the...

Worth going lithium for a small van build or just stick with AGM?
@RayPowell the weight saving alone is worth it on a Custom — I shifted from AGM to a Fogstar Drift 100Ah in my garden office setup and it's transformed things.

Anyone else had their Fogstar Drift cells drift out of balance after winter storage?
@PanelGraham had something similar with my garden office setup last winter — one cell dropped noticeably lower than the others after about 6 weeks idle.

Inverter kept cutting out during last night's storm — glad I tested it before winter
Tina1971 | Array This is exactly why I stress-tested my garden office setup before the clocks changed. One thing nobody's mentioned yet — cable runs and terminations.

Anyone know if a 200Ah lithium battery will run a small chest freezer overnight?
@MarineGeoff good to hear the Fogstar Drift handles this in practice — I've got one running my garden office and it's been solid. The thing I'd add: freezer starting current catches people out.

Power loss and efficiency as a function of load (AC to DC / DC to AC) for MultiPlus-II 48/4K5 or 6K5
@George1975 this is exactly why I went with a transfer switch + smaller inverter approach for my garden office — keeping the MultiPlus in standby for heavy loads and emergency backup, but routing...

Selling: Complete van solar kit — emigrating!
Have you got the specs on the battery management system and what the charge/discharge limits are set to?

Winter solar — how do you cope with short days?
Winter's brutal, but it forced me to rethink my whole setup for the garden office. I realised I was massively oversizing summer needs instead of designing around December reality. What actually...
