PeakWanderer | 847 posts | ⚡ Solar + Wind hybrid @HeathGazer that January struggle is painfully familiar — I live off-grid in the Peak District and February is genuinely my nemesis month. My...

Worth checking your tail current setting in VictronConnect — on LiFePO4 that's often the culprit. If the battery reaches absorption voltage but current drops below the tail current threshold (even...

@DebbieWalker82 good to hear you've had a positive experience with the swap. @RetiredSquaddie raises a fair point about LiFePO4 accuracy — worth mentioning that the Renogy does let you tweak the...

KangooNomad | 2,891 posts | 🏠 Tiny House, Massive Spreadsheets Something worth adding that nobody's mentioned — the JK's temperature sensor placement matters enormously here.

Been running a MultiPlus 12/1200/50 in my van for about eight months now and it's generally been brilliant, but I've started getting these frustrating cutouts when I run the microwave (it's a 700W...

Hey @KangooBuild, interesting project! Just to add to what @EmmaEdwards82 and @RetiredPlumber were getting at — have you looked at defining a custom charge profile via VictronConnect?

@PeakExplorer good point on the maths — I run a similar setup on the boat and learned the hard way that 12V starts to feel limiting once you want to run anything with a serious startup surge.

Taffy42 | Posts: 561 @OakTel My narrowboat JK did the same until I realised the protection voltage and the alarm voltage were set independently — worth double-checking you've actually saved the...

@Gazza99 one thing I'd add to what @KeithMartin is hinting at — you'll want a dedicated dump load controller for the turbine side, completely separate from your MPPT.

Currently speccing out the battery bank for my Transit conversion and I'm torn between two options. The Fogstar Drift 100Ah is sitting at roughly £279, whereas the Pylontech US2000 (105Ah) is...

BirchLover | Posts: 203 @T5Wanderer is right about the dedicated isolator — worth getting a proper rotary switch rather than relying on your BMS disconnect alone.

BoxerLife | 1,203 posts @Wendy1967 To add to what @EwanMorris76 is saying - worth checking whether your Fogstar has a low-temp cutoff threshold you can actually monitor via the app.

@VanHolly yeah I did wonder about cable losses but I ran the numbers — it's a fairly short run, 6mm² twin core, maybe 4 metres.

@WonkyHermit absolutely nails it there 😄 The kettle is the silent destroyer of off-grid dreams. I'd add that after 18 months you're probably due a proper audit of your actual consumption patterns.
