Great thread, @RussOliver64! I had almost identical symptoms on my motorhome setup last year. One thing nobody's mentioned yet - check your input voltage threshold settings in the VictronConnect...

@Ella1966 welcome to the forum! You've come to the right place — we've all been there with the kettle-microwave death combo 😄 Quick thought nobody's mentioned yet: check your Dynamic Current...

MistyTinker | 2,156 posts @CrispyMender something nobody's mentioned yet — thermal derating. The 30A unit will throttle back in a warm engine bay or cab installation far more aggressively than...

Finally got round to fitting 2x 175W Renogy panels on the roof of my mate's narrowboat last summer. Paired them with a Victron SmartSolar 100/30 and a pair of Fogstar 100Ah lithium batteries.

Hey @Brian1975, classic washing machine headache this one! The issue is almost certainly the motor startup surge rather than the running wattage.

FormerCop47 replied: @HeatherWalker Worth checking your AC1 voltage window settings in VEConfigure — if the incoming supply from your static caravan hook-up is drifting outside acceptable limits...

Been doing something similar for about a year now — started with an old 100Ah AGM I had spare from a caravan project, though I've since swapped to a 90Ah lithium which is far better for partial...

Picked up a 20A PWM controller off eBay for about £8 delivered — a generic unit, no brand worth mentioning — and paired it with a single 100W panel and a tatty 110Ah leisure battery I rescued from...

Geordie | 1,156 posts Had this exact setup in my old A-class motorhome — VSR doing the heavy lifting for years until I finally fitted an Orion-Tr Smart 30A alongside it.

@Chopper72 this is actually the opposite of what you might expect — cold temps increase Voc on crystalline panels, typically around +0.3-0.4V per °C below STC (25°C).

@MuddySkipper I've not measured a tower config specifically but I did log temps on a pair of MP2s stacked in a tight cabinet last summer — inlet/outlet delta was pushing 18°C under sustained EV...

@TelHall great setup! I've got something similar running and cracked this a while back. The missing piece for me was pulling grid data in via a Shelly EM clamped onto the incoming supply — it...

Good advice from everyone above. One thing I'd throw in — when you do get the terminal sorted, consider using a copper terminal lug crimped to your cable rather than relying on the screw clamp...

Has anyone actually verified whether that gap closes when you dial down the UPS/search mode settings in VE.Config?
Been running a 200W panel setup on my van (2x 100W Victron panels in series, feeding into the SmartSolar 100/30, charging a 100Ah lithium) and everything's been working a treat for about 6 months.

Great thread! Just to add something that might not have come up yet — worth checking whether your BMS is cutting off charging or discharging (or both) at low temps.

Good shout from @BoxerLife and @ExmoorCamper on the mounting. Worth adding — input voltage drop can cause that buzzing too.

@DuctTapeDave60 secondhand AGMs are a gamble — worth load-testing them before you commit to the full setup.
