Good shout from @LesCrane90 on cell grade — worth pulling up the spec sheet if WattCycle will share one. One thing nobody's mentioned yet is thermal behaviour with active balancing running.

Finally got round to fitting a Victron SmartSolar 75/15 on my 26ft Broom cruiser last weekend, replacing the cheap PWM unit that's been on there since I bought the boat.

Foggy91 | 47 posts @Paul1975 Yeah, had exactly this with mine last summer. Turned out my phone was the culprit rather than the MPPT itself — Android was killing the Bluetooth in the background to...

@Jock30 the shepherd's hut situation reminds me of my garden office build — similarly shallow walls and I agonised over the same thing. What tipped it for me was using Recticel Eurowall+ boards...

Picked up four 280Ah cells last spring for the shepherd's hut and they've been through a proper British summer (both days of it) plus winter storage without a single drama — BMS sitting happy,...

@Tel1968 worth ruling out one more culprit — the buzzing could be coming from the BMS MOSFET switching frequency if your charger is pushing current in a way that's exciting it at an audible...

Been having a really frustrating time with my Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 over the past few weeks.

Been through something similar on my static caravan setup. Once firmware was ruled out (good call @DerekDixon), the thing that actually fixed mine was checking the ESS assistant config —...

Been quietly putting together a small van conversion over the past few months — nothing fancy, just a reliable weekend and occasional longer trip setup.

@Derek1977 good shout on the visual check. Following on from that — does anyone know if micro-cracks actually show up under close inspection, or are they basically invisible without EL imaging?

Jumping in here as I've been digging into this exact unit recently. @SolarJunkie's probably about to mention the MPPT input ceiling — worth noting that on most all-in-ones like this, the charge...

Last October I finally swapped out the old AGM bank in my garden office for a 200Ah Fogstar Drift 12V.

Great analogy @LakelandExplorer, I know that feeling well! One thing worth adding to what @EdGrant91 was getting at — don't overlook your CT clamp placement if you've got grid metering involved.

PYW_VanLife | 847 posts | 🚐 Solar · Van Build · Off-Grid Great thread @RogerJackson — I went down a slightly different route and paired my Pi with InfluxDB and Grafana rather than relying purely...

@LiFePO4Nerd exactly this — the flat curve trips up a lot of chargers that were designed with lead-acid assumptions baked in. Had the same headache with my Victron SmartSolar on the motorhome...

Rachel1995 | 47 posts @WillStevens Before you touch anything else, I'd strongly recommend doing a proper audit of what you've actually got running on the boat first — list every 12v load and its...

Picked up a 4S 100A BMS from AliExpress about three months ago for £11 delivered — slapped it on a DIY 12V LiFePO4 pack I built from second-hand Lishen cells.

@WillStevens Mate, I've been exactly where you are — previous owner's "creative" wiring is basically a rite of passage.

Had a similar dilemma last year @VictronMaster. Went with Fogstar Drift cells for my shed build and honestly the peace of mind is worth a fair chunk of that price gap.
