@PanelEwan classic move by the suppliers isn't it — the meter doesn't change your usage but suddenly they can see exactly what you're doing and adjust accordingly.

Been doing something similar in my shepherd's hut for the last year or so — Pi 4 pulling data from a Victron MPPT via VE.Direct, shoved into InfluxDB with Grafana on top.
@OldSailor79 completely agree on the floor, and worth mentioning that with a log cabin sitting on bearers or joists, you've often got a lovely accessible void underneath to work with.
