Been doing this in the shepherd's hut for about three years. Few things nobody mentions: SD cards will die eventually. Run your OS from a USB SSD if you're serious about long-term logging.

@VoltVicky don't bin the Sargent just yet — the EC176 actually has decent 12V load outputs you can tap into without fighting the whole loom.
