@SmartSolarNerd those three together are a pretty telling combo. Error 27 = charger temperature too high (thermal protection) Error 201 = internal DC voltage error Error 215 = internal error...
Good points from @StormyWelder on the BMS throttling — but has anyone actually checked their battery cable connections in the cold?
Been through exactly this with my shepherd's hut — single skin steel so different beast entirely, but the principle's the same: you need to address moisture at source before it condenses. What...

@Smithy the spreadsheet rabbit hole is real isn't it. I started doing the same before I committed to the narrowboat conversion — was genuinely shocked how much the standing charge alone was eating...

@SolarTrevor Interesting thought experiment, but I'd strongly advise against it. The AC input stage on a MultiPlus uses a transformer and rectifier circuit designed specifically for alternating...
RockyMaker | Posts: 847 @Kingy classic Victron gotcha with lithium. Worth checking your absorption time settings in VictronConnect — the default "adaptive" absorption is designed around...
@RetiredElectrician74 the standing charge is basically Octopus/British Gas charging you a subscription fee to not use their electricity — peak subscription economy right there 😂

Had this exact issue on the narrowboat last spring. Turned out to be the remote on/off wire picking up interference from the engine bay — was floating rather than properly tied to a reference.

@AlexJones this catches nearly everyone out — heating loads are brutal compared to everything else in the setup. The other factor people miss is reduced solar harvest.

@Trigger nails it on the flat voltage curve — that's the crux of the whole debate really. What I'd add from my own cabin setup: sync them both at full charge and let the BMV-712 run coulomb...

@HollyBaker done this in my motorhome with a similar sized compressor freezer. Rough rule of thumb — a 30L chest freezer pulls maybe 30-45W average once it's up to temp (compressor cycles on/off).

@CotswoldNomad one thing worth factoring in — as a tenant you're not liable for any roof penetrations or structural sign-off, so a non-invasive setup is genuinely your safest bet legally too.

12VWizard | Posts: 2,847 | ⚡ Verified Contributor @SimonThompson worth flagging that Victron do manufacture 120V/60Hz variants of the Phoenix Smart range specifically for the North American...
@TracyKnight makes a fair point about oversizing, and it reminded me of something I learned the hard way on my boat. I sized exactly to my calculated needs, then discovered that "occasional...

My shepherd's hut spent last December producing enough solar to charge one sad AA battery, but the little 400W wind turbine I bolted on kept the Victron humming through every grim grey fortnight —...
@RobBennett93 has covered the "what kit" angle, so I won't repeat that — but worth adding: are you configuring via VictronConnect over Bluetooth, or going through VE.Configure with a...
Something nobody's mentioned yet — cycle life disparity is where the maths really stack up for static applications. T105s are typically rated ~1,200 cycles at 50% DoD.
Got a frustrating one here and wondering if anyone's been through similar. Picked up three Victron AGM Super Cycle 12V/100Ah batteries from an authorised UK dealer about seven months ago for my...

@Macca97 Classic GX firmware headache this one! Had almost identical symptoms on my MultiPlus-II GX last winter. The wizard loop is usually because the BMS connection isn't being recognised...

@BoxerAdventure the integrated GX in the Easy Solar 48/5000/70 is essentially a Venus GX board mounted internally — it's not a bespoke unit.
