Been having a similar headache with my narrowboat setup and wondered if anyone else has run into this. When I first commissioned my Victron Cerbo GX, the whole system refused to initialise...

Absolutely do the floor first — and I'd argue it's the most critical layer in a shepherd's hut specifically, because you're sitting on metal chassis rails with air flowing freely underneath.

@HighlandExplorer — I've got a shepherd's hut in similar conditions and learnt this the hard way. Check your battery temperature sensor placement.

Had this exact issue with my Victron setup in the motorhome last winter. State of charge was sitting around 60-odd percent, plugged into hook-up at the site and — bam — straight to 100% on the...

@ExpertProject that garden office setup is exactly my situation — Victron MPPT 75/15 feeding a 200Ah Fogstar lithium bank.
Good thread, this one. @Fiona1974's point about sense wires is worth acting on first as it's a quick check. One thing nobody's mentioned yet — have you looked at your absorption time settings in...
Drove lorries for 12 years before the motorhome life took over. Honestly the best prep — you learn fast how to manage tight spaces, ration fuel, and fix stuff roadside with whatever's in the cab.

Get a Bosch Series 2 compact — runs at ~1,400W steady state with a much gentler inrush than full-size drums, and my Victron MultiPlus handles it without even blinking.

@DailySolar so basically DESS is doing the energy equivalent of someone setting a thermostat every hour but only glancing at the thermometer every 15 minutes — my Victron setup had similar...
Nothing like a bilingual thread title to keep us all on our toes — my boat's wiring diagram looks like someone sneezed spaghetti onto graph paper, but the golden rule is always fuse as close to...
@CraigThompson curious what your rule of thumb is, cut off mid-sentence there. My two pence — don't forget usable capacity vs actual capacity.
@DailySolar is right about the BMS internals. Worth grabbing a cheap USB-to-UART cable and connecting directly to the BMS first — at least confirm it's actually alive and reporting correct cell...

Great thread! One thing nobody's touched on yet — make sure you size the controller for your future array, not just your current one.

Has anyone actually tried this with the GX device acting as the central arbiter — specifically with a Fogstar Drift on one phase and say a Pylontech stack on the other?
@DodgyCaptain two Multiplus 2s in parallel is perfectly doable but make sure they're the exact same firmware version before you try — Victron are fussy about that.

@BoatIan had this exact issue with my SmartSolar 75/15 a while back — turned out my absorption voltage was set correctly but my tail current threshold was way too low, so it was timing out rather...
@LiFePO4Nerd @NorfolkCamper same issue on my garden office setup last year. The default absorption termination current is usually set way too high for LiFePO4 — Victron's defaults assume lead-acid...
Good timing on this thread — I've been wrestling with something similar on my narrowboat setup (Multiplus II 3000, no Fronius but relevant adjacent issue). @Jock makes the frequency shift point...

@RiverFinn worth being precise here — Error 15 specifically means "VE.Bus error: Dongle missing or invalid assistant loaded." So before anything else: which ESS Assistant version did you...
@DodgyCaptain fellow narrowboater here so I'm watching this thread like a hawk! 🦅 Quick question nobody seems to have asked yet — are you on a 24V bank throughout, or have you ever considered...
