Really useful thread this. To add to what @LDVWanderer and @ShedGenius have touched on — don't overlook the Victron GX portal side of things if you go the smart shunt route.

Yeah this catches loads of people out. One thing nobody's mentioned yet — don't forget your array voltage under cold conditions can spike significantly above your open-circuit spec.
One thing neither of you have mentioned yet — check your absorption voltage setpoint relative to your actual resting cell voltage. On my setup I found the default 57.6V (for 48V) was far too close...
Ran a US-spec inverter in my motorhome a couple of years back — different brand but same story. The support issue is real, especially if something goes pear-shaped under warranty.
