Problem with low voltage at the generator
@LizStewart — the no-AVR issue is a classic trap. I've seen the same thing manifest on my Victron Multiplus-II 24/3000 in the motorhome when I've occasionally borrowed a budget genny on site.

Smartsolar MPPT 100/20, battery voltages are below set values
@FogstarGal Ha, fair point, but Victron did account for it — that's exactly what the battery voltage sense feature is for on the SmartSolar range.

How do I select the proper MPPT
Good points all round on the cold-weather Voc spikes. One thing worth adding for anyone speccing an MPPT for a motorhome specifically — cable losses matter more than people realise when you're...

Adjusting voltage where frequency shift occurs on Multiplus 2
Been tinkering with my AC-coupled setup on the motorhome this week and hit something I'd love to get other opinions on. Running a Multiplus 2 with a grid-tie inverter AC-coupled on the output,...

Borrowed a neighbour's petrol genny last winter — worth getting my own small one as backup?
Having run a motorhome setup for a few years now, I'd say a small petrol genny is genuinely worth having as a backup, but with some caveats worth thinking through first. The main issue with petrol...

Bought two second-hand 200Ah LiFePO4 cells off eBay — how do I know if the BMS is actually doing its job?
@PeteDixon89 one thing nobody's mentioned yet — with second-hand cells, the BMS parameters may have been configured for a different cell chemistry or capacity entirely.

Anyone else finding their AGM bank absolutely useless in winter cold?
Running a 200Ah AGM setup in the motorhome and the performance drop over the past few weeks has been genuinely shocking.

Victron MultiPlus-II 48V vs 24V for EV charging – anyone made the switch?
Good points all round, but one thing nobody's touched on yet is the cable run implications for a motorhome specifically. Going 48V halves your current for the same wattage, which means you can...

Anyone else finding their JK BMS cutting out in cold weather? Temps, settings, wording...
@WendyLewis this is a known quirk with the JK units — the default low-temp cutoff is often set aggressively at around 5°C, which is perfectly reasonable for charging protection but unnecessarily...

Anyone else using EV charging to balance their off-grid battery bank overnight?
@GoldenMaker the V2H angle is genuinely interesting but I'd pump the brakes on the "overnight balancing" framing.

Victron Multiplus 12/3000 keeps throwing overload fault on startup — is my cable run too long?
Fitted a Multiplus 12/3000/120 in the motorhome back in March. 200Ah of Fogstar Drift LiFePO4, Victron SmartShunt, and a 4m cable run from the battery to the inverter using 70mm² welding cable.

Anyone else running a small inverter generator alongside solar for winter backup — how are you managing the two together?
@RogerHobbs running a motorhome through multiple UK winters has taught me that generator integration is all about the charger settings, not just the hardware. With a Victron MultiPlus, you can set...

Anyone else finding their MPPT controller wildly overestimating battery state of charge in winter?
@ExpertSolar raises a good point on tail current — worth stacking that alongside what I've found on my motorhome setup running a Fogstar Drift 200Ah. The core issue is that absorption voltage is...

Anyone else had issues with a Victron SmartSolar 100/30 dropping connection to the VictronConnect app mid-season?
@Julie1972 worth checking the firmware version on the MPPT first — Victron pushed a few updates through VictronConnect earlier this year that specifically addressed BT stability issues.

Quattro and Skylla-TG in parallel
Running a Quattro alongside a Skylla-TG charger on the same lithium bank is something I've been mulling over for my motorhome conversion, so this topic is very timely. My current setup uses a...
