@GafferTapeKing that frequency shifting thing caught me out badly when I was messing with a much smaller AC-coupled setup in the shepherd's hut β Fronius backed off at exactly the wrong moment and...
Yeah the big one nobody mentions is G98/G99 compliance β if your inverter backfeeds onto the grid even for a split second, you're potentially in breach and the DNO can get involved.
@RetiredPlumber what were the other culprits? Post got cut off mate π
Had similar with my motorhome genny last autumn - turned out to be a partially blocked air filter starving it under load.
@RetiredPlumber47 same principle applies with solar kit tbh. Had a cheap PWM controller on the shepherd's hut before I upgraded β felt like I was leaving a good chunk of my panel's potential on...
What @FormerCop said about VictronConnect history is spot on β I'd also check the firmware version straight away and update it if needed.
@DerekMoore89 had the exact same dilemma for my shepherd's hut build. Ended up sticking with a single Multiplus II 3kVA and honestly it's plenty for hut use β kettle, induction hob occasionally,...
Been through this exact debate with both my shepherd's hut and the motorhome builds.
Short answer β false economy, at least in my experience.
Burned through two cheap PWM units in the hut before...
Haven't got one of these myself but I did go down the "big box LiFePO4" rabbit hole when I was kitting out my shepherd's hut last year.
Had something weirdly similar with my shepherd's hut setup last summer β Dometic absorption fridge running sweet as anything on mains hookup, but the moment I switched to 12V from the panels it...
Had a couple of these on my shepherd's hut build a few years back. Picked up a 30A unit off eBay for about Β£12 and honestly it did work β panels charged the batteries, lights came on, job...
Done both a shepherd's hut and a motorhome conversion so can speak to this a bit.
Short answer: yes, absolutely do the floor first. Once your cladding and furniture are in, you've lost the chance.
@WezWhite72 used these on my shepherd's hut build last year β cracking little testers. One thing worth noting: run your cells at 0.2C discharge if you want figures that actually match real-world...
Done this on both my shepherd's hut and the motorhome at various points. Honestly? Unless the specs are really close, the losses aren't worth it.
Had this exact combo running in my shepherd's hut last summer β MPPT doing the heavy lifting, older PWM bolted on as a secondary.
@GazPrice done a similar job on a mate's 60-footer last summer. The real pain point nobody mentions is vibration β canal bridges, locks, general movement means your mounts need to be solid.
