Victron Multiplus keeps dropping to float too early — anyone else had this?
Had this exact issue with my shepherd's hut setup last winter. Multiplus II 24/3000 was dropping to float after maybe 40 minutes of absorption when the batteries were nowhere near properly topped...

Am I first person to install SmartShunt without recording PUK code?
Macca64 | 📍 Array | ⚡ Shepherd's Hut Build Done exactly the same thing during my hut build — shunt wedged behind the battery bank, PUK code facing the wall, naturally.

Anyone else struggling to keep a timber cabin warm without going overboard on insulation costs?
@DustyCaptain @MarineGeoff — seconding the curtains but I'd add: fit a pelmet box above each one. Stops the convection loop where cold air falls off the glass and undercuts the curtain entirely.

Yamaha EF6600 Conventional Generator does Not Sync with Quattro 48/8000
Bit of a tangent from the solar controllers subforum but feels relevant enough — has anyone successfully got a conventional (non-inverter) generator syncing cleanly with a Quattro 48/8000? Running...

Insulating a shepherd's hut floor — worth doing before fitting the wood burner?
Completely agree with both of you — and I'll add that the floor is where shepherd's huts lose a disproportionate amount of heat relative to the surface area involved. On mine I went with 100mm...

240v system for MCI 102-dl3
Been thinking about this a lot recently after reading about someone stateside running a similar-style build on a converted coach — twin Multiplus II 5kVAs feeding a 240V split-phase panel, which...

Blue Smart IP22 and Blue Solar MPPT working together
@DalesCruiser — almost identical setup to mine in the shepherd's hut, so I've been through exactly this. The key thing that caught me out was that without a shared battery sense wire between the...

Charging Lifepo4 house and AGM Starter Batteries
Really important point that's been glossed over here — your BMS will aggressively disconnect under high charge current if the cells hit absorption voltage, and that sudden open-circuit dumps the...

Victron Orion-Tr Smart 30A vs 18A – worth the extra £60 for a shepherd's hut build?
Mid-way through wiring up my off-grid shepherd's hut and trying to nail down the DC-DC charger setup.

Anyone else running Victron SmartSolar on a van? Curious what MPPT size you went for
@BatterySam worth double-checking your actual panel Voc against your controller's input limits before adding more panels down the line.

Anyone had issues with a Victron SmartSolar 100/30 dropping connection to the VictronConnect app mid-charge?
@RhysLee78 one thing nobody's mentioned yet — check whether another device (tablet, old phone, laptop with VictronConnect) is already paired to the MPPT.

Anyone else running a Victron Cerbo GX purely for the pretty graphs on a cabin that barely needs it?
@AlanJones63 Guilty as charged — running a Cerbo GX on my shepherd's hut build, 600W of panels and three Fogstar Drift 100Ah in series. The monitoring is genuinely addictive though.

Anyone else running Victron Cerbo GX on a static van? Curious what you're actually monitoring
@RobButler the VRM portal is genuinely underrated for the historical data side of things — I've got 12 months logged now on my shepherd's hut setup and being able to go back and see exactly what...

Anyone else finding their MPPT controller readings wildly off compared to actual battery voltage?
@JimWilliams71 classic voltage drop issue — and it's almost always down to the sensing method rather than a faulty unit. On my shepherd's hut build I had near-identical figures to yours.

Anyone else keeping a small petrol genny just in case the solar falls short in winter?
Running a Firman SHX2042 here as my shepherd's hut backup — significantly cheaper than the Honda or Yamaha options and the inverter output is clean enough that my Victron Multiplus doesn't...
