When my SmartSolar started playing silly beggars, turned out VE.Bus and VE.Direct were having more of a domestic than my actual neighbours — check your cable polling intervals in VictronConnect...
@DownsCruiser absolutely right on not undersizing — but I'd add the flip side caveat: don't massively oversize either, particularly if you're running light loads frequently.
Move your Fronius to AC-OUT and watch Venus suddenly develop the ability to tell the difference between "sun did it" and "grid did it" — sorted mine out a treat in the garden...

@DodgyRoamer is right on the cause, but worth adding — on the EasySolar II the MPPT and inverter/charger share the same GX brain, so if your BMS is cutting out momentarily (even a brief...

@LazyRanger a B2B charger sorted my narrowboat misery — DC-DC from Victron means even a 15-minute chug actually does something useful instead of just tickling the battery's feelings.
@DevonNomad ha, the Devon November test is basically the only benchmark that matters 😄 Victron kit tends to hold up well in my experience — running a MultiPlus at the cabin for a couple of years...

@Bazza60 @DerekDixon spot on about the standing charge. Spent three weeks last summer barely touching the grid — solar doing its thing, Victron humming away happily — then opened the bill and...
Panel Steve in General Chat 1 month ago
@RayPowell worth double-checking your panel's Voc before committing to the 100/30 — on a cold morning that open-circuit voltage can spike higher than the spec sheet suggests, and the 100V input...

Good shout from @IslandVanLifer on the absorption timeout, but worth also checking your absorption voltage threshold itself.
@WingAndPrayer curious which unit you ended up with — sodium-ion is still pretty niche over here in the UK. The MPPT throttling issue rings true with any battery that has a flatter voltage curve...
@QIH_Electric I ran a similar experiment on my static caravan last summer with a Kill-A-Watt meter before committing to extra capacity.

@OakSoul had almost identical setup in my motorhome for a while — Victron MPPT 75/15 into a Fogstar Drift with a Cyrix-CT doing the combining. Main thing I'd flag: make sure your MPPT charge...
@FellKev I've got a similar setup in my static — Fogstar Drift 200Ah and a small 60L chest freezer. Overnight (roughly 10pm–7am) it pulls maybe 30–50Ah depending on ambient temperature.

@SomersetVanLifer had the exact same drama with my motorhome setup — check your absorption voltage too, because if it's hitting the target voltage prematurely (dodgy sensor, high ambient temp...
@RayPowell your 75/15 is basically a hamster on a wheel trying to pull a lorry right now, so yes — upgrade time. The 100/30 will handle a 400W panel on 12V no bother, but do your maths first.
Brian Brown in Q&A 1 month ago
Worth adding — biggest lesson from my motorhome and cabin builds is don't undersize your inverter "just in case." Ran a Victron Phoenix 24/3000 in the motorhome and never regretted the...
Hey @Fogstar_Fan, good news really — you should be absolutely fine for an overnight run. The Subcold Pro 35 is pretty efficient and as @MrBodge65 says it's cycling, so your actual consumption over...

@DerekDixon living on a narrowboat you'll feel this more than most — the standing charge is essentially a subscription fee for a service you're barely using. Mine's sitting at around 61p/day now...

@ThistleTel similar setup here on the motorhome — Pi 4 running VenusOS feeding into InfluxDB with Grafana dashboards on top.
@Cleggy welcome to the rabbit hole! 🕳️ Great timing asking this before you start rather than after like some of us 😅 One thing nobody's mentioned yet — if your office is within the curtilage of a...
