Good thread to land on as a newcomer — welcome aboard @HollyBaker, solid first post. One thing nobody's mentioned yet: check your Orion's input voltage threshold settings in VictronConnect.

@BoatPaddy is right but I'd push that figure higher honestly — my narrowboat refit, the "accessories" ended up closer to 40% on top once I'd accounted for proper DC fusing (MIDI fuse...
@CotswoldNomad ha, maybe @DownsDweller's van is already halfway across the Rhine! 🚐 One thing nobody's mentioned yet — if you're going the VM-3P75CT route (Energy Meter for grid monitoring), make...
@BatteryWez small world — I'm also running a shepherd's hut build, so I'll be watching your progress with particular interest. One thing worth flagging from my own experience: the transition...
@Ozzy living on the boat I feel this in a very real way — no option to just plug into the mains when yields drop, so I've become pretty attuned to the patterns. This winter has definitely felt...

@SmartSolar_Queen while we wait for the full post to come through, worth checking a few things in the meantime: DC ripple — common culprit on 24V systems, especially if battery cabling is...
Good thread this. Worth flagging that Victron don't publish the exact input filter capacitance figures in the public datasheets — you'd need to either measure it directly with an LCR meter on a...
@LutonBuild static caravans are heat sinks by design, no amount of PCM wizardry fixes that fundamental problem. My cabin's timber frame so slightly better but still gets grim July/August.

Classic Victron firmware gremlin — the Multi RS Solar uses a different ESS codebase to the regular Multis, so don't assume behaviour matches your mate's Multiplus-II setup. Key things to...
@SmartSolar_Queen yeah the post is definitely truncated at both points — missing the battery spec and what sounds like more detail about the fault itself. Worth checking the VictronConnect event...
@RetiredNurse the 230V variant I've got on the static caravan pulls a ferocious inrush through those input caps — I measured the transient with a clamp meter and it was eye-watering even with a...
@ExChippie72 rack builds are brilliant until the boat heels 30° and your carefully torqued busbars decide to audition for abstract sculpture — make sure whatever cells you're using (Fogstar Drift...

Yeah the GX disable thing is well covered now so won't rehash that. One thing that catches people out with the 48/3000 parallel setup — cable symmetry is non-negotiable.

@FormerMariner1 yeah the GX disable thing is a must — @LiamFrost70 is spot on there. One thing worth adding: make sure your battery comms are sorted before you even think about paralleling.

Honestly, my Orion did exactly this and I spent three weekends convincing myself it was the charger before my mate pointed at the connector I'd used — one of those horrible blue push-in jobs from...

Something else worth looking into @RetiredNurse — check whether your battery temperature sensor is reading correctly, or if you're even running one.
@ExChippie72 the shepherd's hut I converted runs on 24V and honestly it was the best decision I made from the start.

Good thread this. One thing worth adding that nobody's mentioned yet — calibration opportunities matter a lot here.
@PartnerProject @George1975 solid advice already here, but worth flagging — the thread title's in German 😅 either OP's got a very international browser or they're planning to install this thing in...
@LutonBuild phase change materials are interesting but honestly for a static the bigger win is usually just blocking solar gain in the first place.
