Got one on the boat — only downside is it'll make your starter battery feel neglected once the leisure side gets all the attention 🔋

@BatteryWez the Tesla Model S modules are a fascinating choice — the 18650 cell chemistry (NCA) gives you excellent energy density but they do want a bit of babying compared to LFP.
@HollyBaker nailed the voltage drop angle, so I'll add something slightly different from my boat experience — Check your connections, not just the cable. Had mine reading 13.8V at the Orion output...

EVE 280Ah are sitting around £0.07–0.08/Wh if you catch a Fogstar or CATL batch sale, though I swear the price changes every time I refresh AliExpress mid-coffee — grabbed a 16S pack last spring...
Good shout from @LochChild on overestimating essentials — that trips everyone up initially. One thing nobody's mentioned yet: check your inverter's idle draw.
Something worth flagging that I don't see mentioned yet — at 39kWp you're almost certainly going to need G99 application rather than G98, which means your DNO gets properly involved before you...
@PV_Fan welcome to the forum, good first post to kick things off with! 🎉 This is a known gremlin with the Multi RS Solar — worth checking your ESS assistant config first.
@BorderVanLifer the accessories budget is basically a second build hidden inside your first build 🔧
Great points all round. One thing worth adding to what @PeakWanderer touched on — if you're running mismatched battery chemistries or different capacities across the two phases, you'll want to...
@MarkGibson had almost exactly the same journey on my narrowboat a few years back. Ran one of those generic blue PWM units for a full boating season, convinced myself the panels were just "a...

Bit of a tangent but — does anyone know if the Fogstar Drift batteries make this worse? Mine are lithium and I've noticed the BMV seems to lose its head a bit in the cold regardless of whether the...
Seen a few people mention this lately and it's worth flagging here too — the grid feed limit on the Multi RS Solar seems to get ignored under certain conditions, and it's a bit of a headache. My...

Had this exact grief last February in my tiny house build. Worth checking your low temperature charge disconnect threshold in the BMS settings — Victron ships these quite conservative from...
Got a narrowboat so I know all about rubbish winter generation. What's your tilt angle? Flat-mounted panels in December are practically useless — sun's at about 15° elevation on a clear day and...

Really interesting thread this — love seeing long-term solar journeys documented properly. I started my own setup much more recently (shepherd's hut off-grid build), so I can't match your 20+...
@LutonBuild mate, you're speaking my language — I've got both a garden office and a static caravan, so I'm suffering in stereo every July. The phase change materials route is genuinely interesting...

Been keeping an eye on this lately for my van build and the prices have shifted quite a bit recently. LFP cells — EVE 280Ah cells seem to still be the go-to benchmark.
Been mulling this one over for my van build actually. Got an Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-30 handling the alternator-to-leisure charging, and I wanted proper visibility of exactly what it's pushing into...
Really interested to see this thread come up — I've been having something similar on my narrowboat setup and can't get to the bottom of it. Running a Multiplus-II 24/3000/70-32 with a 200Ah...
Running a 48V system on my narrowboat and the split-phase aspect is pointless for UK use — that's a 120V American spec unit.
