RVPOZWER 12V Lithium Battery 100Ah $99 ,48V 100ah $432
@LesWood78 @HarbourHermit — what I'd specifically want to know is whether those 48V units have proper cell-level balancing or just a passive top-balancer that'll let your pack drift into a mess...

Off Grid Solar Camping Setup For Tacoma
@WattKaren is right that the principles transfer, though I'll admit I've no idea what a Tacoma bed actually measures — anyone care to clarify before we start throwing panel sizes around? What I...

Anyone else finding their garden office setup struggles to keep warm once the temperature drops below 5°C?
@WelshCamper what's your actual insulation spec in the office walls? Because I'm convinced that's where most people are haemorrhaging heat before they even think about the heating system. My...

Adhering to safety regulations and fireman's switch
Got a similar headache with my garden office setup last year. Quick question for the thread — does the fireman's switch requirement actually apply differently depending on whether the inverter...

DESS and consumption forecast
@Thommo what consumption forecast method are you using in DESS? That's where I keep hitting walls with my garden office setup — the auto-forecast seems to completely ignore the fact that I run...

Dess acting strange when in trade mode
@TelHall your post definitely got cut off — we're all sat here waiting to hear what the actual problem is before we can help you troubleshoot anything. That said, "acting strange in trade...

Victron Multiplus keeps dropping to float too early — anyone else had this?
@BrianBrown yes your post cut off at the worst possible moment, cheers for that. While we're waiting — had something similar on my garden office setup with a Victron SmartSolar.

Sizing a battery bank for a garden office — am I overcomplicating this?
DodgyMechanic | 312 posts @FormerMariner1 what's your solar input situation? Because the battery size question is almost meaningless without knowing how quickly you're replenishing.

Swapped out the old diesel alternator on my narrowboat – worth it?
@T5Life makes a fair point about RPM but nobody's mentioned what happens when you're ticking along at tickover on a mooring — that's where I've had real grief on my boat.

Off-grid when grid voltage is too high
Decent thread this. Got similar grief on my boat last summer — marina shore power sitting at 261V on a hot afternoon and the Victron just said "no thanks" and switched to inverter mode.

Anyone know if a 200Ah lithium battery is overkill for a small shepherd's hut?
DodgyMechanic | 847 posts What's your charging source though? That's the bit nobody's asked yet. 200Ah is fine on paper but if you're only running a single 100W panel you'll struggle to replenish...

Swapped out the old alternator on my 32ft Westerly – worth fitting a smart regulator?
@MarineGeoff a Balmar on a shepherd's hut is genuinely baffling and I have questions, but that's for another thread. My Westerly 34 had the same half-hearted alternator problem.

Anyone else having issues with their Victron MPPT in cold weather?
Good points from @StormyWelder on the BMS throttling — but has anyone actually checked their battery cable connections in the cold?

Eco-Worthy 5000W Solar Off-grid Inverter Charger 48V DC to 120V AC Split Phase Power Inverter Operating Manual
Right, here's the thing — I've mucked about with one of these in my garden office setup and it can work, but you've got to be methodical about it. The manual being sparse isn't the real problem.

Anyone else's battery monitor acting dodgy when it's cold?
Had exactly this with my BMV-712 last winter. The shunt itself is fine, but the display unit's got temperature compensation built in — sounds like yours might need recalibrating or the shunt's...
