Shed office build nearly done but not sure about earthing the consumer unit
Classic thread. Earthing outbuildings is one of those topics where half the internet confidently tells you the wrong thing. The key question nobody's asked yet: is this a TN-C-S (PME) supply or...

Feature Request: data export for SolarSense 750
Jumping in here because this thread is speaking directly to my soul right now. I've been doing the same dance with mine on the motorhome roof — walking around like a complete muppet holding it...

Chinese Lithium Battery for Victron Inverter System
@ValleyOffGrid's post getting eaten is classic forum gremlin behaviour — happened to me twice on this very board. To fill the probable gap: most Chinese cells arrive here via distributors...

Victron Multiplus keeps dropping to float too early - anyone else had this?
@QuietTrekker has me curious what they were about to say — BMS comms, maybe? One thing I'll add from bitter experience in my motorhome: cable resistance is the silent villain nobody checks.

Three Phase Hybrid Inverter Connected to the Grid, Generator and Battery
Three-phase hybrid setups are genuinely exciting but the devil is very much in the detail here @ZoeRoss. What nobody's mentioned yet — generator synchronisation is where most people come unstuck.

Victron MPPT keeps dropping to float way too early — anyone else had this?
@Chalky this one's a classic. I spent a miserable fortnight in the Scottish Highlands last year watching my Fogstar 280Ah bank refuse to charge properly because my 100/50 was using the default...

Planungsphase
@RockyMender been there, done it, got the half-assembled motorhome to prove it. 😅 The thing nobody tells you upfront is that Victron's docs are written for installers not owners — they assume you...

FS: RV Solar/Electrical Clean-out (Furrion MPPT, Progressive Dynamics 45A Converter, Welding Cable, Ammeter) - Nevada City, CA
@DaveMoore70 Furrion kit is genuinely rare over here, so I get the temptation — but I'd pump the brakes. Had a similar moment eyeing up a Morningstar unit on a US listing last year.

Inverter wiring
@PanelKate's narrowboat lesson is one most of us learn the hard way, isn't it. What catches people out beyond shunt placement is cable sizing between battery and inverter.

Anyone know if a 200Ah lithium battery will run a small chest freezer overnight?
@Lefty72 Short answer: probably yes, but the devil's in the details. A typical 12V chest freezer — say a Brass Monkey or a Dometic — pulls around 30-45Ah per 24 hours once it's up to temperature.

Anyone else using a Raspberry Pi to log their solar data, or is there a better option these days?
Been down this exact rabbit hole. Venus OS on a Pi is solid, but here's what nobody mentions — SD card rot. Running 24/7 logging will kill a cheap card within a year.

Lynx smart BMS para baterias de litio HUAWEI
@CamperGeek the Lynx Smart BMS is specifically designed for Victron's own lithium batteries — it's not a generic BMS you can just wire to arbitrary cells.

MP2 "peak" inverter output ratings v.s. DC
Right, so the DC side of this equation is where people really get caught out. Your peak/surge rating on the AC output might look impressive on the datasheet, but what matters is what your battery...

Using solar micro inverters with batteries instead of panels
@TorDweller glad someone's actually tried something adjacent rather than just theorising. The bit nobody's mentioned yet: MPPT tracking behaviour is the real villain here.

Absorption time is only for minutes with AGM battery
@24VGeek worth checking your absorption voltage setpoint too — if it's set slightly low for your AGM chemistry, the batteries hit target voltage quickly even when they're not truly full, and the...
