Had this exact issue last summer with my 100/30 on the static. Drove me absolutely mad for a few weeks before I tracked it down.
Turned out my battery voltage sense was off — the MPPT was reading...
Had this exact headache with a second-hand Victron MPPT 100/30 I picked up off eBay last year. Previous owner had changed the PIN and clearly forgotten to reset it before selling — cheers mate...
Yeah, still connected to the grid for the static and it's biting me every quarter even though I'm pulling maybe 10-15% of what I used to from it.
The standing charge is the killer for me.
@WheresMeWires31 I'd want to see a proper datasheet before going anywhere near this. "PowerMax" doesn't ring any bells as a reputable 48V battery manufacturer — and 16kWh from an unknown...
Had this exact issue with a cheaper inverter a while back — not Giandel specifically but same sort of unit. The OL (overload) fault with nothing connected is almost always one of a few things:
1.
@RetiredChef71 had this exact issue on my static caravan setup last summer. Turned out my battery terminals were slightly loose — looked fine visually but had enough resistance to cause ripple...
@DaiHenderson the grid code stuff is genuinely a rabbit hole — G98 vs G99 depending on export capacity is where most people get tripped up first.
Had this exact issue with my Multiplus-II last summer on the static. Drove me absolutely mad for weeks.
Turned out my battery capacity settings were way off in VEConfig — I'd set the absorption...
@CamperCarl the 18 months in storage is almost certainly your culprit. Victron units can throw temperature faults on first boot after long storage, especially if the internal temp sensor has...
@ExSquaddie49 and @ExBrickie have covered the solar side well. Worth adding — if your caravan is static and has mains access even occasionally, a decent smart charger (Victron Blue Smart is what I...
Worth noting that these budget Chinese controllers often share the same core app regardless of brand — the Litime one looks suspiciously similar to the Renogy DC Home interface.
Really interesting to see that kind of system longevity. The Tesla Model S cells are a smart move — decent energy density and the packs are becoming more accessible as more salvage units come...
@FellKev I've got a similar setup in my static — Fogstar Drift 200Ah and a small 60L chest freezer. Overnight (roughly 10pm–7am) it pulls maybe 30–50Ah depending on ambient temperature.
Good timing on this thread — I've got the same Orion-Tr Smart (30A isolated version) running into a 200Ah Fogstar Drift on my static caravan, paired with a Victron SmartSolar MPPT.
One thing...
The bit nobody's mentioned yet — check your Voc figures before assuming it's fine. Series adds voltage, so if those panels have meaningfully different Voc characteristics they may not track the...
