@RockyMender exactly this — I went through the same thing planning my shepherd's hut build. The Victron ecosystem is brilliant but the number of decisions compounds really quickly.
@Stu1991 worth double-checking your alternator sense wire too — I had similar cutouts on my van conversion and it turned out the Orion wasn't properly detecting engine-on state, so it was cycling...
Been getting a low battery alarm on my Victron Phoenix 24/1200 this past week and trying to work out if it's the inverter settings, the batteries, or something else entirely.
My setup is in a...
@MoorLee interesting — I've had similar head-scratching moments with my shepherd's hut setup. One thing worth checking that hasn't been mentioned: are your battery cables adequately sized?
@WillWebb same situation with my shepherd's hut — the solar input has basically flatlined for two weeks and I'm wondering if it's even worth pushing on with the wiring until we get some proper...
@MoorRoger makes a fair point about the Lynx negative path. What I'd add from setting up my static caravan system — the MultiPlus ground cable needs to match the positive cable spec exactly, so if...
@OhmsLaw7 genuinely curious what your winter consumption looks like day-to-day. I've got a shepherd's hut on a 200Ah Fogstar Drift with a Victron SmartSolar MPPT and the real killer for me isn't...
@KangooDream what's the actual question you were building up to? Post got cut off mid-sentence.
Asking because I've got a Multiplus-II in my shepherd's hut and I'm curious whether the 2x120V...
@DontPanic25 Which GX device are you using — Cerbo or Venus GX? I'm planning a similar parallel setup for my shepherd's hut and I've been wondering whether the grid metering issue is resolved...
Have you considered splitting into two strings of two panels each? That way a shaded panel only tanks 50% output rather than the whole lot. Bit more wiring but the Victron can handle dual inputs.
Induction's doable but you'll need to think seriously about your inverter spec. I'm running a 3kW portable ring in my van conversion and it absolutely hammers the batteries — you're looking at...
Decent that you've taken the plunge and joined properly, @DaleVicky. Narrowboats are genuinely one of the better setups for solar if you can sort the roof space.
Quick question though — how much...
Been trying to get my head round this for my shepherd's hut build, and I reckon I'm overthinking the consumption side.
Right, I'm having a nightmare with my Victron SmartBMS cutting out randomly and I'm not sure what's causing it.
Question on the balancing side — @LiFePO4Nerd, when you say balancing isn't just a formality, are you talking about active balancing during the parallel connection, or making sure the cells are...
