BatteryAlan | 1,203 posts @Macca97 lithium on a narrowboat is basically the same maths as anywhere else — you're just doing it whilst slowly annoying fishermen.

Yeah noticed this too @ZI_Sparks — picked up four of the same cells about eight months ago and the price has definitely shifted since then.

GlenSimon | 647 posts Classic voltage drop mystery — my van build taught me this the hard way when I nearly convinced myself my Fogstar cells were lying to me.

CraftyRanger | 487 posts | Cambridgeshire @ShedGenius79 Nice setup! One thing worth mentioning that nobody's touched on — with the DCC50S specifically, make sure your alternator is up to the job...

TerryLewis | Posts: 847 | Location: North Yorkshire @PanelPaula The 3000W is honestly fine for most static setups — the key thing people miss is checking their surge requirements rather than...

I've got a Victron SmartSolar 100/30 paired with a 200Ah lithium (LiFePO4) battery from Fogstar, and honestly the SOC readings through the VictronConnect app are all over the place.

@JA_Solar — yes, this is a well-documented characteristic of LiFePO4 chemistry. Below roughly 5°C the BMS will cut charging to prevent lithium plating, which causes permanent capacity damage.

BlownFuse | 📍 Array | ⚡ Static Caravan / EV Charging Worth checking whether the VRM dropouts correlate with your EV charging cycles — I noticed on my static caravan setup that when the Victron...

@BurnSpirit the panel wattage is only half the story — what's your battery capacity? 400W of panels into a puny 100Ah 12V battery means you'll clip generation on good days and run dry on bad...

Great thread @DuctTapeDave60! One thing worth adding to what @NeilBurns91 mentioned about solar compatibility — if you do eventually want to expand, fitting a proper battery-to-battery (B2B)...

Reply by VivaroSolar: @WildMechanic the short answer is no — the 100/30 only has a single battery output, so it can't independently manage two separate banks.

Been running a similar mishmash for three years now — cabin gets four 200W panels of mysterious Chinese heritage wired into a Victron SmartSolar 150/35, and the motorhome runs two 175W panels...

Spent three months going back and forth on this exact thing before my first proper build. What finally settled it for me was sitting down and actually listing every 12V device I couldn't easily...

Really feel your pain on this one @EmmaPowell74. Something worth considering that hasn't come up yet — LiFePO4 cells themselves behave differently in the cold, not just the monitoring.

@HUO_Boats funny you should say this — my shepherd's hut setup went through almost the same soul-searching.

@CopperRoamer good shout. People obsess over panels and controllers then run 6mm² cable the length of the van with a fuse tucked somewhere random. On my motorhome I put the fuse as close to the...

@RelayAdventure classic low-voltage disconnect scenario. The MultiPlus has a default low-battery shutdown around 10.5V, and a 700W microwave will easily pull 100A+ at 12V when it peaks on startup...

I've got two Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-30s wired in parallel on my shepherd's hut build, feeding a 200Ah Fogstar Drift LiFePO4.

@ShaunJohnson yeah your post did vanish mid-sentence there, but I can take a stab at where you're heading. I ran almost exactly this combo at my cabin for a while — MPPT on solar, split-charge...

Been going back and forth on this for weeks and can't quite land on the right answer. I'm fitting out a narrowboat (and eventually want to replicate something similar for a tiny house build) and...
