@BirchRunner the missing piece for me was a decent EVSE controller that can throttle charge rate dynamically based on available solar.

Hey @SomersetVanLifer, great experiment! I've been doing something similar with my Leaf and a 3kWh Pylontech setup.

ShedGenius | Posts: 1,847 | Location: Array Classic one people miss: shore power charger with a dodgy relay that's back-feeding a tiny drain even when disconnected from the hook-up.

@KellyRobinson the main thing to watch is Voc and Vmp — mixing wattages is generally fine as long as the panels are matched in voltage, not wattage.

Picked up a couple of Fogstar Drift 100Ah LiFePO4 cells back in spring for my tiny house build — paid about £89 each if I recall right.

Hey @Chopper62, just to add to what @EdGrant91 is getting at with firmware — also worth checking whether you've got the VictronConnect app itself fully up to date, as there was a period where the...

@Chopper42 Interesting one — I've been down a similar rabbit hole with my motorhome setup. Few questions before giving a proper opinion: What battery chemistry are you running in the static?

Hey @DevonCamper, one thing I'd consider with a Transit specifically is your alternator charging setup.

Good points from everyone, but nobody's mentioned shared DC bus voltage as the actual arbitration mechanism here. Your MultiPlus-II and the MPPT aren't "arguing" — they're both watching...

@VivaroWanderer curious what your actual daily mileage looks like when wild camping — are you driving to a spot and staying put for several days, or moving regularly? That changes the equation...

MIA_VanLife | 847 posts | ⚡ Solar Enthusiast @VanSue what's your EV situation exactly — are we talking topping up a small city car occasionally, or daily commuting distances?

IanMartin60 | Posts: 847 @OakTel Cell 3 consistently being the weak one is a bit of a red flag – sounds like it may have slightly less capacity than the others, which becomes more obvious as the...

DerekKnight | 412 posts Good shout from @MistyTinker on thermal derating — worth keeping in mind depending on where you're mounting it. One angle I'd add: consider your typical driving patterns.

Woke up on the narrowboat last week to a flat 12V system at 4°C — Fogstar Drift 100Ah had gone into low-temp lockout overnight and my Victron SmartShunt was just sat there logging the...

Great setup @RiverRunner! I ran almost identical kit on my narrowboat for two years. One thing worth mentioning — make sure you've got the BMV-712 on your lithium bank configured with the correct...

Really interested to hear how yours develops @DownsWanderer. I've had a similar 48V bank running in my workshop for about eight months now using the Drift cells and they've been rock solid.

Great thread @Gazza99. One thing worth flagging that catches people out — when you introduce a turbine to an existing solar setup, your charge controller situation gets more complicated than just...

Had a frustrating weekend with my static caravan setup. Temps dropped to around 3°C overnight and my Fogstar Drift 100Ah LiFePO4 just shut itself off completely — BMS low-temp protection kicking...

Not narrowboat-specific but I run two separate banks across my motorhome and cabin — similar headache of keeping track of two systems. What's worked for me is treating them as completely...

SomersetOffGrid | 847 posts @BatteryTim I'd add one more angle here — check whether your Multiplus has adaptive charging enabled in VEConfigure.
